All eyes are on Brazil as it prepares to host the World Cup in 2014, and there may now be reason for concern after violence broke out on Sunday during a Serie A match between Atletico Paranaense and Vasco da Gama in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Vasco was trying to avoid relegation to Serie A's second division. Atletico were the home unit, but they had to play away from their home stadium due to fan behavior in a previous match.
According to Ed Malyon of Mirror Football, fans began to fight in the stands just 10 minutes into the match after Atletico jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. [/QUOTE]

They had to land a military police helicopter on the field to get things under control

Brazil right now it's like a house where the parents have invited the father's boss for dinner and they're trying to put out the best show possible but then the kids are mean as shit and behave even worse than they usually do.
[sp]in order to make this shitty joke analogy complete, the parents are both shitheads and neglect the children a lot[/sp]

thats not even a good analogy... or funny. what are you even trying to say?
violence between sports fans is always upsetting, why do a few (proportionately) bad apples have to fuck it up so badly for everyone else?
why do people fight for fucking football
Why are the fights seen as more socially acceptable than American Football fights? Everyone rags on the shit so hard but turns a blind eye to all the fighting in soccer stands.

Usually people are identified through the stadium's cameras and arrested, some are even banned from watching football in stadiums. The clubs(depending of which fans made the mess) are fined and rarely get closed games(where the match is played but without fans, the stadium is closed, giving that club no revenue as a penalty for lack of security in the stadium).
Normally the people that act this way are not really sports fans, they're just hooligans trying to cause trouble which is incredible sad and pathetic and gives everyone else a bad name.

Basically what this guy said. I've heard some people say that they only go to stadiums to fight.

I was making a reference to how Brazil is trying to organize these two big events (world cup and olympics) trying to give a good impression to the rest of the world but turmoil and bad shit like this keeps happening.

it seemed like you were making a massive generalisation. i do see your point, but it came off like you were calling all of brazil trouble makers. one mustn't forget that for every football hooligan, there are tens of genuine fans that want to see a ball being kicked about.
