• TrackMania United Texture Quality Issues.

So I recently decided to purchase TrackMania United Forever, I know it's a pretty old game and not very active nowadays, but I really liked the free version and figured it would be a good investment anyway. Now I face an extremely frustrating problem regarding the quality of the textures in game. Regardless of my quality settings, all of the textures in the game (and the menus) appear to extremely low detail and blurry. I have scoured the internet and found a handful of forum posts with problems similar to this, but none of the solutions have helped so far, I messed around with the settings, updated drivers, rolled them back, tried compatibility modes, reinstalled, restarted. All of that did nothing to change the quality of the game. Here are my specifications: Here are the current graphics settings for the game: And here are a few screenshots that illustrate the problem: [IMG_THUMB] http://filesmelt.com/dl/2013-07-01_00001.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] [IMG_THUMB]http://filesmelt.com/dl/2013-07-01_00002.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] [IMG_THUMB]http://filesmelt.com/dl/2013-07-01_00003.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Any help at all would be appreciated, hopefully somebody has experienced this problem before and found a solution. I'm really at the end of my rope here, I can usually find the answers to my own problems by scouring the internet but nothing has worked so far... All I want to do is play and enjoy the game that I payed 30 bucks for, but right now it looks far worse than Mario Kart 64...
did you click the advanced button on the settings, that's where texture quality is
did you click the advanced button on the settings, that's where texture quality is
Yes I did, in the second picture I show the settings that the game is currently running on. The texture quality is set on "High" which is as high as it will go. But when looking at an image of somebody without this problem it becomes obvious that the game should look much better than it does in my screenshots. Oh sorry I couldn't see all of the image on my phone, does this happen in any other games?
Oh sorry I couldn't see all of the image on my phone, does this happen in any other games?
Nope, it's just localized to trackmania it seems.
I can only imagine it's some sort of odd glitch due to the games age or whatnot, not much I can really suggest, the newer trackmania games shouldn't have this issue
The game is still fun and everything, it's just hard to ignore that it looks pretty damn ugly a lot of the time.. I think it must have something to do with my graphics card, like you said, old game, probably some sort of compatibility issue. *Edit: Ok! I ended up finding the solution to this problem, I rolled back the update on my trackmania to an earlier version that addresses my issue: "issue with degraded texture quality for graphic cards with lots of RAM." (Apparently the new one doesn't?) I just downloaded the 24-10-2009 patch and edited my nadeo.ini to make the patcher think I was running an older version of the game rather than a newer one. Problem solved! Hopefully me posting the solution will help some lost soul fix this problem if they ever run into it. which I must say, is extremely, extremely unlikely. Thank you djjkxbox360 for taking the time to respond to my problem! [IMG_THUMB] http://filesmelt.com/dl/2013-07-02_00002.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
