An Indonesian man who is said to be 145 years-old has told interviewers he has had enough of life and wants to die. Official documentation gives Mbah Gotho's date of birth as 31 December 1870. If confirmed that would make him 23 years older than the official world record holder, Jeanne Calment of France, who was born when Mr Gotho was five and died in 1997 at the age of 122. Speaking to local reporters, Mr Gotho said he'd had enough of life. He had outlived 10 siblings, four wives, and all his children. Now his grandchildren were independent, he said, he had nothing to live for. He mainly listens to the radio because his eyesight is failing and has to be spoon-fed and bathed.
One step closer to immortality.
hmmmmmm
it seems that after a century of life, the pectoral muscles will deflate and become leathery skin curtains (hypthosis: this is to hold the youth juice [probably to keep living so long])
very interesting
Is there any possibility of a confirmation of this? I thought the human body essentially packed up and failed at 120, I'd be astonished if someone had lived 20 years longer than that.
145? It's a miracle the man hasn't gone hollow yet.
Man, the picture makes him look as if he's either melting or in the process of turning into a tree.

There's a group of people who are going through his records to try and verify whether he's actually 145 years old as far as I'm aware. The oldest living human was Jeanne Calment who passed away at the age of 122 in 1997, she lived long enough to actually meet Van Gogh as a child and witnessed the Eiffel Tower being built.
All we need to do is cut him open and count the rings
This guy is older than the German Empire

Without heart disease and other "natural old people deaths" the majority of normal people would only really be able to live up to 114 or 115 with very, very few exceptions, the oldest being 122.
There was a man who claimed to be 150 a decade ago and was in the Guinness World Records book 1999, they had no proof. There is an Indian man who claimed to be 179. Again, absolutely no proof. There's no way this is real.
his man titties are sagging like no tomorrow
There doesn't seem to be a video of this on youtube, but there's this scene where in The Simpsons, they're singing Happy Birthday to their relative Tyrone Simpson, and at the end he just says "Why won't I die?"

Episode 18 of season 15 if you wanna bother looking it up.

Considering official documentation holds his birth date to be 1870 I wouldnt count your chickens before they hatched

often in cases like this, it turns out to be their parent or grandparent who has the same name and with it being so far far it's hard to work through the records
is there any way to confirm this via medical testing?

Cut him in half and count the layers

IIRC it's not the body as a whole, but crucial parts of the brain simply start to die off.

Not until he dies at least probably

Thing with humans is that dying by age is a very random thing.
The important parts haven't failed for him yet.
its unlikely hes 145 but hes certainly in the supercenturian category. 145 would be so far past the current records and trends that its just unlikely
Mr Gotho said he'd had enough of life. He had outlived 10 siblings, four wives, and all his children. Now his grandchildren were independent, he said, he had nothing to live for.
Okay, that's pretty sad.
Holy shit thats fucking old
Well he looks the part
look up pictures of the current world record holders. He looks old but not that old.
Holy fuck he's nearly a century and a half old
He was born right after the Civil War ended
Okay, that's pretty sad.
If he was that old most of his grandchildren would be dead too
Okay, that's pretty sad.
on the flip side, his children never had to go through lossing him
why would he go public now instead of last year, or any of the last 20 years
why would he go public now instead of last year, or any of the last 20 years
Its not that he went "Hey! I'm old, world!" The article states that people went to him to confirm, in fact, that his age is as old as it says in his records.
if it's true then this dude was already 30 years old by the turn of the century. jesus
Wow, this man was born before the unification of Germany. Damn!
I don't buy it. Just like I didn't buy that Indian dude who claims he hasn't eaten in like 50 years. Its just way too hard to believe with no actual proof.
