Trump preparing to crack down on marijuana users, campaigners say
A new Department of Justice report on violent crime and marijuana will pave the way for the Trump administration to crack down on the drug, campaigners and lawmakers say.
The Trump administration’s Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety, led by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is to release a report next week that critics fear will link marijuana use to violent crime and advocate tougher sentences for those producing, selling and using the drug.
Impeachment really can't come soon enough
they can go fuck themselves for this and everything else

its so ironic that the idea of banning weed is to reduce crime and increase public safety
but legalizing it fully would do exactly that... and illegalizing it causes a ton of crime, even artificially criminalizes perfectly normal, reasonable people that contribute to society as responsible adults and positively effect the US by doing so.
its almost as if it doesn't work
hopefully this isn't true though
I actually do know quite a few hardcore stoners who voted for Trump.
If this doesn't wake them up nothing will :v:
Well we all know Jeff Sessions is heavily against drugs, and was considered too racist to hold office in the past. As the Nixon comparisons continue, this could just be his contribution to War on Drugs. The original intention for the War on Drugs was to suppress hippy leftists and minorities and while it bloated into something far bigger and longer lasting, it still has a disproportionate impact on poor communities. After all, you don't hear about the DEA breaking up millionaire coke parties.
He's really just trying to be Ubernixon
fuck off
ill smoke as much as i want thanks

I seem to remember a certain prohibition era...

Sadly Trump doesn't
or he doesn't care anyways
its the most obvious example of why banning weed does NOT work and yet people still try to ban weed, turning totally reasonable people into criminals.
"Laws should be left to the states except for when we don't want them to be."

So is it just nothing more than speculation? I read the entire article, but I had to re-read it a few more times because the way it was written was really, really confusing. Like, there's barely any real substance. It's almost all just speculation or X says that Y says that etc.
edit: not a single person has replied to or has attempted to refute my post. am I being ignored, or am I wrong somehow? please explain to me how this article is more than just meaningless speculation and clickbait.
I'll bet he doesn't give a shit about this issue. The terrible people he hired can probably slide anything across his desk as long as it doesn't have to do with him or Russia.
But what about the states where its legal medicinally? Assuming the program isn't cut are they going to be forced to prescribe 'healthy' coal and oil, which while having nothing to do with this seem to be among the few things they are for?
I literally just smoked some wtf

Gonna blaze one right now for Trump
As much as I hate this happening, I really want to shove this in the face of some of my brain-dead stoner friends who raved about Trump and shared pro-Trump memes during the election. The "libertarian" young people on the internet who ended up backing Trump will either realize their mistake with this, or they'll double down on being fucking stupid.
The only excuse for half of the young Trump supporters I know is ignorance at this point. I've been told to my face that the Russia thing is some dumb Democrat conspiracy, but if the country boys toting around MAGA hats and confederate flags start seeing their friends arrested and locked up extra long-term for weed, maybe they'll stop being dumb cunts and admit where they fucked up.

Optimistically, yes, they will admit they fucked up.
Realistically, I can probably see "Obama didn't legalize it, so worst President ever" or "Shillary would have been worse" or the typical chant comments from those stoners who voted for the person who's AG wants to keep attacking marijuana users.
wait isn't weed legal in some places in america?
is he going to crack down on the ones where its still illegal and everyone else is safe?
He should stop with crack himself
Guys, he doesn't want people smoking weed because then they may actually have some original thoughts, which would undermine his entire authority.

Federal law trumps state law, so if Sessions wanted he could have the DEA raid every dispensary in every state that legalized it in any capacity, but this would generate lots of backlash from the states.

I mean, Sessions has been talking about reversing the Obama administration's steps back from the War of Drugs for months. It's a safe bet that he's going to continue to build pressure on nonviolent pot users like he said he would.
It's speculation but it's speculation with a track record to back it up.
The crackdown on Marijuana users that started with Nixon is little more than a tool to criminalize large portions of the population that typically vote left
Nixons people have admitted this on record.
Fuck Trump.

(don't forget black people)

I believe that would fall under "portions of the population that typically vote left".
(don't forget black people)
Minorities are the prime population I was referring to. Poor minorities who use recreational Marijuana more than most other demographics. That's the entire reason the Republicans ever cared about pot. Their enemies tend to use it.

lol okay donald you're gonna have to send SWAT teams in to arrest Massachusetts state troopers because the governor already said he won't comply with federal anti-marijuana operations
Behold Trumps idea of america being great again.
