A complaint was filed in Belgian court against 14 Israeli leaders for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Ehud Barak were among those charged with war crimes committed during the Gaza war in the winter of 2008-09, the French daily Le Monde reported. Former Gen. Matan Vilnai and other Israeli army leaders, politicians and intelligence officials also were included on the list.
Two lawyers representing 13 family members of victims of an Israeli army bombing of a mosque near the Jabaliya refugee camp during the war said they filed their complaints Wednesday in Brussels, according to reports.
A Belgian doctor with Palestinian roots also is among the complainants. He claims that Israeli forces destroyed his family’s olive fields.
Much of the 70-page complaint is based on the Goldstone report, according to the French news agency AFP. The report by a U.N. commission led by former South African justice Richard Goldstone accused Israel and Hamas of war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity.
Good job Belgium, you have my respect.

Can't edit the title.
Everyone who's against Israel is a Nazi. Belgium is a bunch of racist antisemites. :downs:
Fucking good.
Let's hope something comes of this
You might want to edit your thread title to say "Crimes Against Humanity" instead of "Cimes Against Humanity"

Can't edit it.
Why were you reading Jewish times?
If Tzipi Livni and Ehud Barak will be found guilty, this will do more harm than good. They are the leaders of the two biggest parties on the political left, without them, the next government will be filled with right-wing extremists assholes.
This this not from a just and "do wrong and you will be punished" point of view, but from a "what benefits everyone" point of view though, which isn't isn't the way it's supposed to work.
Hang the bastards!

The Jewish point of view

So the Palestinians shouldn't care that this gives a good chance for Lieberman to be PM? Because let me tell ya, if you thought under Netanyahu it was rough, you're not gonna like this Lieberman guy.

They're all cunts.
Fucking Lieberman proposed to ban the remembrance of the Nakba (When Palestinians got expelled from their homes) with a prison sentence of 15 years.
Interesting fact: somewhere between 20-30% of the population of Brussels are Muslim.

That's nice to know.

That's why he should be tried, not the moderates.
If Lieberman hadn't received 15 seats in the Knesset (our of 120), almost everything would have been different. Tzipi would probably enter the coalition with Netanyahu and become foreign minister, or heck, maybe even she would have form her own coalition and be PM.
She would have eased the blockade much sooner, would work against settlements and more peace, and be generally much better than Netanyahu or Lieberman.
Getting her out of Israel's political arena will only backfire very, very hard and very soon in Israel's next elections.
My dad's lawyer is named Brian Goldbergstein.
They're desperatly trying to pull the attention away from the blockade or is it just me?
Now if only someone would sue the US for doing the same things but on a larger scale...
Anyway, I guess they're commiting war crimes (constructing ghettos), but I don't get what the crimes against humanity are. They're ferrying supplies in, they're treating the Palestinians a good measure better than Hamas, etc..
Something tells me nothing is going to come out of this, considering you need unanimous votes from the UN Security Counsel to have them tried...

There's too many differences to make a unanimous vote. A lot of nations are for Israel, a lot against, a lot don't care.
Lol, why are they going to Belgium? There seems to be a conflict of jurisdiction here.
Also go Israel

Well the current occupants are as follows.
Permanent Members:
China
France
Russia
UK
US
Temporary:
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Brazil
Gabon
Lebanon
Nigeria
The only absolute confirmation of trial that I can think of is Lebanon, because we all know why... The others, I'm not sure of, not even the US, maybe France will...

Not to go off-topic, but why are they in the council? I thought the council was for established major powers, not minor countries.
Is the strategy here just 'rate burnemdown dumb regardless of what he says' or what?

Pretty much, yes.
Not to go off-topic, but why are they in the council? I thought the council was for established major powers, not minor countries.
Because, smaller countries where getting angry at their lack of power, It started happening last year, with the five temps replaced yearly.

In the same place they hung the Nazis!
Interesting fact: somewhere between 20-30% of the population of Brussels are Muslim.
I don't understand how critical has evaded bans.
Every post is a stupid ass anti-muslim one.

But his posts are irrelevant.
If they are responsible for war crimes, then they must be tried as such. Not "Oh the Israeli government will be worse off without them", that's irrelevant.

Its basically a place for the rest of the world to participate. Countries from around the world are elected by the general assembly for 2 year terms under non-permanent members.
How are accidental civilian casualties war crimes?
Some care to explain?
Because a war crime is when civilians slaughtered regardless of their actions.
It really seems like a trolling attempt from Belgium.
Starpluck thread.
Eh so they're gonna get sued. They're still going to continue what they're doing. Belgium is trying to look like the good guys, Israel could less give a shit about their public outlook, nothing is going to change.
