the soldier is slowly turning into a "everything else is shit except vanilla" loadout for me, the only melee that seems viable now is disciplinary action until they decide to nerf the shit out of that too, because apparently only scout is allowed to go fast now

I use the Bat Outta Hell scout style because I fucking hate scout.

The Milkman health bonus was garbage and should have never been considered in the first place.
Same with most of the other set bonuses.

A lot of the components for the sets were shit so the hassle of having to put up with them was offset by the buff you got from them, now theres no reason to use a lot of things
But hey at least the Chargin' Targe gives you afterburn immunity because valve loves the demoknight

So they phased the set benefits into the individual weapons and redid the bonus into a cosmetic effect.

Adding new weapons will make it more of a clusterfuck, at least cosmetics won't make it harder for new/returning players to get into the game.
plus they fixed a ton of the older weapons which is better than leaving the old ones untouched and having new ones with new problems.

Their new philosophy is to make the individual items without the sets not worthless instead of having to pursue a rare hat in order to achieve the effects. I personally believe this to be a much better approach. There was no reason to use the L'Etranger before, so they went ahead and gave you a passive 40% increase in cloak time for all watches, for example.

They did it because according to their data the set bonuses were forcing players to use those items because the bonuses were too good or some shit like that. It's much needed changes TBH. Buffing players with no real downside because they had a set of items that look the same or followed a theme was an absolutely awful idea.

you do realize that it's really fucking easy to have the set so as long as you have the hat at least, right? hats have some sort of rarity, the weapons are worth nothing
