• Windows 7 Upgrade Partition Error?

I get this when I try to do the W7 upgrade option:
To upgrade Windows, the Users, Program Files, and Windows directories need to be on the same partition. Upgrading when these directories are not on the same partition is not supported. Moving these directories so that they are on the same partition is also not supported. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”.
How the fuck can I get around this? I set up my RC install of W7 to be on it's own partition of about 25gb or so. Works just fine... but because there's only 5 or so GB of freespace at the most, I've moved the "my documents" and default "program files" directory to be on my other harddrive for space. So does that mean because I did that I can't fucking install W7 full version now without completely wiping my entire computer (NOT an option)? Is there anyway to bypass this, because I know it doesn't actually matter. I seriously need help here guys. The RC expires in 1 day. Google doesn't help worth shit. Only thing I got that was remotely relevant was a few threads where people didn't have any answers on other forums and trying to manually set the default folders back to it's default state didn't fix it. UPDATE: Okay I managed to bypass that screen, but when the OS starts installing I get this error: "Windows could not complete the installation. Please restart the intallation process" How the hell do I fix that?
You are wanting to keep your windows RC, but completely install a real version of windows 7 on a seperate partition based off of the RC?
I've only had the can't complete installation once because I shut my computer off during post-install. I just reinstalled it. Do a full install rather than upgrade (move your stuff back to the 25gb partition first) and then follow method 2 here: http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp You can then use the Migration Tool (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722032(WS.10).aspx ) to get your stuff from the 25gb partition.
I solved the issue. Turns out when I was changing some folder location values to point back to the C: drive defaults (the ones saying where the temp directory should be stored) I accidentally left a space in front of the address :P It took goddamn enough hoops to jump through but it's installed and good to go with everything as it was before! Only problem now is my activation key I got from MSDN isn't working but I got 30 days to sort that out Also no I was just wanting to upgrade the RC of W7 to the full version
