I wish they made yoshi story. That shit is so nostalgic for me.
I really hope that this game turns out good but I don't have high hopes for it.
I just don't understand how you manage to fuck up Yoshi's Island's awesome art style.
Yoshi's Island is still one of my favorite looking games ever. It looks great! This looks like it's made out of plastic garbage.
I guess this kills off Wario for the time being, being unrevealed for Smash Bros 4. changing my guesses to either Diddy/Dixie and Yoshi now for the next 2 months. (context, had the idea they'd base Wario's potential reveal just because of JP's release of Mario Party Island Tour...already came out in the west)
I really hope that they go back to what made the original Yoshi's Island great, the Yoshi series has a large tendency to be compared to the original, to the extent that they only use the Island name during development, only to remove it later. (Yoshi's Island DS being an exception, all they did was remove the '2' from the logo) heard Link Between Worlds was really great, but it would be hard to have a bad overhead Zelda game.

Screenshots and videos of 3DS games on the internet always look different than experiencing it on the 3DS itself.
Holy crap, that's on my Birthday. Sweet.
They should've had this as one of the screenshots in the article.

I don't really like the way the style looks in screenshots but like someone else said, 3DS games always look different when you actually play them. I thought Pokemon X and Y looked like garbage from the screenshots but in motion it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. I'm cautiously optimistic for this game.
Even if the 3ds magically makes the graphics not look dreadful, it's still made by the same hacks who made the DS one, and they haven't gotten any better at it if previewers are anything to go buy.
Yeah, the DS one felt like a really, really generic map-pack.
I don't know, I enjoyed the DS one, but that's probably because I haven't really played the GBA one.
Goddam it, this is going to take another shit on YI
They made it look worse. The Super Nintendo graphics were very clear and clean and popped out, these just look like scratchy pixelated 3D.

The art style is a part of the game, I do not understand why they would have to replace it with their shoddy crap

I have to agree, every screenshot I've seen so far just looks like ass compared to the older ones.

ALBW is fucking phenomenal. The use of 3D is p sophisticated and effective compared to prior 3DS titles. Definitely a worthy successor to LTTP.
I fear my heart's going to be broken by this game, though.

Same here, Yoshi's Story was short and the gameplay just resolved down to just eating the best fruit you can consume, and avoiding fruits that isn't the best fruit (meaning just watermelons), Universal Gravitation was neat, the gimmick was there but was barely utilized and got bland quickly. DS really seemed off though, i really didn't like the whole baby switching mechanic and stages seem really large. got as far as a few stages after Donkey Kong and put the game down.
Not saying that all overhead Zeldas are generic, just that they had standard formulas that worked and didn't get all in your face with the difficulty at times, basically im comparing the retroness-sequal of LTTP to how Yoshi's New Island tries to portray itself as a truer sequel to island. (enjoying Link Between Worlds so far, pretty unique, liking the interaction with walls)
Still though, Miyamoto was against Yoshi's Island having pre-rendered graphics like Donkey Kong Country and made it all crayon-based, which in all honesty gave it a distinctive artstyle, gameplay was fluid, great music track, you could potentially get all the things just in one run of a stage if you know where things are. think the game would have to be really good if they want to break the Yoshi's Island curse.

I still own my copy of Yoshi's Island for SNES. Don't even have a SNES right now (looking to get one of those two-in-one retros), but I kept it because fuck no you're not taking YI from me. :v:
The "new" content to ALBW's Hero mode (enemies hit from 2x to 4x normal damage) is mildly disappointing. [sp]The "The End" screen has the main cast waiting for Link as he leaves the Master Sword grove. That's it.[/sp] Still a challenge.
What I really appreciate with ALBW is, Nintendo left some stuff as exactly (ignoring tech upgrades) as it was in LTTP, took some stuff from LTTP and gave it a new twist, and then just made up some stuff out of whole cloth (like all of the dungeons now that it's a 3D game -- most of the dungeon gimmicks are still the same notion). And I found myself really liking Nintendo's decisions on what they kept and what they changed a little/completely. Music especially -- I'm all over the Lorule overworld and Castle Hyrule themes.
Is this the one being made by Artoon?
If it is there's no hope for this game.
My hope is that they don't milk this by making a bunch of sequels that eventually get a bit bland like the new super mario bros games.

Yoshi's Island DS was already bland so it's too late.
Also, this manages to look way worse than a game from the 90s.
