SEOUL: Google chairman Eric Schmidt defended his company as a great innovator despite allegations from Apple co-founder Steve Jobs that the internet search giant stole ideas from the iPhone.Schmidt told reporters in Seoul that he is still "very sad and recovering from the sense of loss'' from Jobs' death last month and does not think it's right to comment on Jobs' words in Walter Issacson's biography. The biography was released after Jobs' death. In it, Jobs argues that Google stole from Apple's iPhone to build many of the features in Google's Android software for rival phones."I decided not to comment on comments that are written in the book after his death. I don't think it's right,'' Schmidt said, describing Jobs as a "fantastic human being'' who he "dearly'' misses.Jobs died October 5, aged 56, after a battle with cancer. Schmidt served on the Apple board from 2006 to 2009 but quit as Google and Apple went head-to-head in smartphones - Apple with its iPhone and Google with its Android software."Most people would agree that Google is a great innovator, and I would also point out that the Android efforts started before the iPhone efforts. And that's all I have to say,'' Schmidt said.Schmidt has been meeting with senior government and business officials, including South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, during his three-day trip here. Google said it is Schmidt's first visit to South Korea since 2007.
What was lost? Sure, Jobs did cool shit but in his last year he was nothing of use to Apple. I respect the man but, what was lost?

Maybe ideas he had but never got to work out?

Apple fans looked up to him as an icon.
Apple lost one of their biggest selling points.

And Steve Wozniak was just a clapping monkey :v:
Again...
Jobs is just a turtle neck wearing douchebag. I bet all my money that Jobs wouldn't have been so gracious if Schmidt had died.

Probably would've publicly announced that he was happy about it since "Google rips all of Apples shit off" talk from his bio.
If it was the other way round Jobs would probably have gone to Schmidt's funeral and sued Google for using a patented coffin

When someone you know dies you feel a sense of loss.
When someone you know dies you feel a sense of loss.
never happened to me before
Jobs was a douche, case closed.
Maybe ideas he had but never got to work out?
So Jobs was the ideas guy? :v:
-snip'ed for me being a callous dick-
You've never had someone you know die? Or is it that you've never felt a sense of loss? Actually don't answer that. If the answer to the former is yes then you dont have enough experience to form an intelligent opinion on the matter, and if the answer to the latter is yes then you are a horrible person, either way, dont post in this thread.
Both

A great friend to Eric Schmidt, maybe?
That's an awful assumption to make.
My 94 year old great grandmother had serious dementia and was sick all the time. She could not even stand up properly. She honestly was asking for us to kill her when we went and saw her, if it was one of the rare events that she could recognise us. I'm happy knowing that she's finally passed away, it's what she wanted in the end, her husband died two decades ago, and my grandmother hated her. (yes, her daughter hated her)
Your right there are exceptions to every generalization, I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal, and I'm even more sorry that I antagonized you.

Holy shit, emotional catharsis and understanding on Facepunch? Well played, boys.

Thanks mate, I'm know that there's no way for anyone to know, so it's kind of my fault. Either way I'm over being insulted by the internet. :v:
Jobs is a douche but he's done a lot for Apple, I take my hat off to him.
Steve rebuild Apple when it was almost dead and he was a good friend to alot of people in the electronica industry.
He was very aimed at hes products and yeah he had a big fan base, but i do agree that shit went over the line a few days after hes death
Because Steve Jobs never stole any ideas....:v:
Sure, he was an icon. An iconic douchebag who was in high position of a now-declining company.
Also, Garry replied to my post asdf

John McCarthy died recently and I can assure you that 95% of people have probably never even heard of him yet he created more change than Jobs ever did

I agree that media has a habit of holding a headline as long as they can, but when the people they are marketing to, are so callous and cruel to say things like almost half the people in this thread have been saying, you just gotta realize that they are just supply for the assholes of this planet.
I don't think they had good feelings towards each other during that whole Android fiasco.
