I bought a 1920x1080 monitor, the Samsung SyncMaster XL2280HD.
I tried using HDMI but it looks like shit. Why?
So I decided to use VGA and it looks almost perfect but the text in some parts is blurry. By increasing/decreasing the width (from the monitor menu) I can get text right where it is blurry, but it gets blurry in another part of the monitor. I can't seem to get it right. And it should be 1:1 pixel ratio.
Any idea? Also, do I need a more expensive HDMI cable?

No, this wont make a difference.
Where did you get it from? I can't find anything at all about it on Google.

When i'm using VGA the image looks identical to HDMI.

The only difference I've noticed when using HDMI over VGA is that I don't get auto-adjusting contrasts. Not pixel quality.

Over time you'll start to get this really nasty ghosting, which is the reason I swapped to DVI
Are you using an AMD card? Sometimes they automatically downscale the image for some retarded reason. Use the HDMI cord though.
AMD(ATI) cards do by default underscan 10%, if you've got the latest CCC go to My Digital Flat-Panels -> Scaling Options and drag underscan to 0%
Change the refresh rate
HDMI will look fine as long as the settings are correct. 60Hz @ 1920x1080
maybe 1920x1080 isn't your native resolution
HDMI looks like crap, my card is a 275GTX, my drivers are updated, 1920x1080 is my native resolution.

HDMI looks like crap = everything is too bright and has a fucking WHITE outline
fucking use dvi then
Check the refresh rate. My secondary monitor looks blurry if I don't set it to 70 Hz for example (However, it's pretty old and uses VGA).
It's not the refresh rate.
I had blurry text on my 6950. Checking off composite sync fixed it. I don't know if it's available in your card though.
Use DVI.
Assuming you have an ATI card, go into Digital Flat Panel settings in the CCC and mess with stuff.
use DVI/HDMI
Did you adjust your cleartype text? Control panel/display/the sixth text on the top left. Sometimes it's that. Mine look blurry like hell, its like 1280x800 on a 1920x1200 until I adjusted that. Just give it a try.
DVI Please.

DVI or HDMI
Make way for the Chaotix, son.
i can't see why HDMI would be blurrier than VGA unless you somehow fucked up

I understand what is going on, it happens to me on some TVs. You just need to go into the gpu control panel and change some stuff,
I have this problem on my HDTV, nvidia card

I can't get HDMI to look good. It just looks like overbrightened shit, with everything having a white outline around it.
It's not your fucking native resolution, as explained in the post above yours. Don't waste our time.
Too bad I just fixed it and it works perfectly at 1080p. It had something to do with literally changing the fucking name in the HDMI tools menu. I wasn't wasting your time after all, asshole. :(
