A supermarket's summer advertising campaign featuring a famous Christmas song has managed to infuriate both shoppers and employees. The chain has been inundated with complaints about the jingly references to mistletoe and carol singing in Andy Williams’ hit It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, which has been repeatedly played in stores while the sun beats down outside. who gives a fuck
Seasons and their traits should stick in their own time periods. Not even for a joke, I get hissy when it comes to this shit
Happy Hanukkah, everyone
Seasons and their traits should stick in their own time periods. Not even for a joke, I get hissy when it comes to this shit
My mom sings Christmas songs literally all the time and it pisses me and my dad off to no end.
I would literally go insane if I had to work there and hear that damn song over and over every single day.
I guess no one has ever heard of "Christmas in July"
I guess no one has ever heard of "Christmas in July"
It's been replaced by Half Christmas, in June.
Honestly? The store I work at plays a small looping playlist too, you just stop noticing it after a little while.
I'm tired of hearing the same christmas songs every year cant someone actually make some new ones for once.
I guess no one has ever heard of "Christmas in July"
I have, but I still do not consider it an excuse. Why don't we have Halloween in May or Easter in November?
Who, apart from employees, would be in a Co-Op long enough to notice?
Last time I went to the Co-op they were blasting out fucking Disco Inferno. 10/10 shopping experience was above average.
I work in a Co-op store and i am not kidding you they play it after every single song. We can't even retune the station and if we turned the radio off we would get busted. When you hear it 500 times a shift it starts to get on your nerves a little...

One place was just playing stuff through a music channel on TV but given our hours it was chart music which obviously didn't fucking change except for play order. Companies ought to be banned from allowing repetitive music all the time it really does fuck with your head eventually. Especially if you hear it outside of work, it's practically traumatizing then.

I actually saw the advert for this a few days ago, I think it's quite a clever use of the song.
Christmas songs piss me off at Christmas, hearing it in July would drive me crazy.

Hoo, seems like we got some grinches in this thread.
I thought it was quite a clever advert actually
It is, but notice how they've cut out all of the christmas lyrics, it works well because of that. But if you were in a store where they were actually playing the full length version, it would be pretty annoying.
who gives a fuck
You don't realize how most songs are on repeat, when I worked at Dominion there was only 5 songs and you had to listen to them again and again on a 6 hour shift.
I would literally go insane if I had to work there and hear that damn song over and over every single day.
and i thought after the store closes when working night shift, the music would stop, but nope 10 renditions of Rudolph the red nose reindeer, or holly jolly christmas.
