So I hate iTunes its really annoying and takes too long to add and convert things
I wanted to know whats the best free alternative to itunes for windows xp (for my older media computer) that can add my music and movies easily to my iPod classic 80gb
also whats the best free program to change videos to format for the iPod
what is everyone using instead?
GrooveShark
Winamp master race :smugdog:
The Zune software is pretty fantastic, the marketplace especially.

grooveshark is a streaming service...
I know there are plugins for Foobar2000 that will handle music for your ipod. not sure about movies, though.

since when does zune software support ipods
Winamp has pretty good iPod support. Especially considering its not an official Apple program.
For video conversion, I've always used SUPER. But Handbrake works fairly well too.

A manual sync should do it, dragging/dropping. For simple media management, I find it to be pretty damn good.
The Zune software is awesome... just saying.
Spotify master race
why the fuck are you all suggesting streaming services for ipod syncing?
Floola.
Good folder structure + VLC.
Want to listen to some Weird Al?
Open up third hard drive, type in weird, open, select album, play in VLC.
Good folder structure + VLC.
Good folder structure is required in general :colbert:
I myself prefer "Artist/Album" (and just make sure the files have the title in them somewhere), though I can work with "Artist - Album/##. Title", "Artist/(Year) Album", etc ad nauseum
Go with foobar. It's my favorite music program. The iPod addons for it are great and constantly updated.
Foobar 2000
Just install Foobar2000, it's the most suited out of all of the ones available to you as it has a simple iPod management plugin.

Edit: for videos, maybe you should install a Sony Vegas trial.
I prefer MediaMonkey in every way.
SongBird with iPod addon.
I think foobar2000 supports ipods, it's far superior anyway.
Sharepod by FAR.

Place the singe executable on the root of the Ipod and BAM, you're golden forever.
WinAmp is great for more advanced uses, Foobar is amazing for lightweight, easy, fast music listening.
Winamp is far too bloated.

I'd say it's probably the other way around, what with all the plug-ins and customisation Foobar2000 has.

Winamp is in no damned way lightweight.

sharepod is a very minimal, simple media device program.
CopyTrans dudes!
Works with Ipods. Simple layout, easy to use.
Free too.
Try looking into Rockbox.

or I could press f3, type in, enter

i'd say it's both for foobar. i used to run foobar2000, and it was rather slow from the plugins i was using. now i'm using it with no extra themes and just a couple basic plugins and it's extremely lightweight.
