Baby Found Starved Nearly To Death By Lazy Parents, parents receives 60 years in prison
HOOD COUNTY, TX – Baby Riley is safe after he was found starved by his parents nearly to death. The young couple, Justin and Brittany Alston were sentenced to 60 years in prison after it was discovered that they had starved Riley because they were too lazy to take care of him.
Last December several teenagers were attending a party at the couple’s mobile home in rural Hood County when they heard crying from the back of the trailer. What they found was horrifying. Baby Riley was lying there emaciated, covered in urine and vomit. The teenagers called an adult who brought him to the hospital, where doctors who treated him didn’t believe he would live. Investigators believe that the parents may not have fed him properly for over two months.
“Brittany [the mother] told investigators when she was asked why she didn’t feed this baby she said that she had other things to do, like getting the oil changed in the car,” she said. The 21-year-old ‘parents’ admitted they preferred drinking and smoking pot with their friends instead of taking care of their baby.
“These parents, I don’t know if they wanted him to die but they were waiting for him to die and I believe if he had they’d have thrown him in the trash,” Hood County District Attorney Robert Christian said.
Tag that shit, please, please.
60 years is a bit excessive in my opinion
WHY would you even do such a thing? Being LAZY To take care of your own god damn kid, who´s not even 1 year old. This is almost nigh impossible.
That picture, please tag it.
;~;

I agree. I expected an uplifting and cheerful experience after clicking a thread about infant neglect, not some depressing story with an accompanying picture from the case at hand which shows no gore, death or sex!
woah, 60 years I know that they almost killed their kid, but wouldn't something like 5 or 10 years be better for something like this? You could kill two people in Canada and still get less time than 60 years

Perhaps people expected a neutral photo of the area or no photo at all, like in most threads?

Well, this little icon clearly tells you that there is a picture in the thread. Why would you be surprised and shocked to see a picture of a malnutritioned baby in a thread about malnutritioned babies?
Shian why are you constantly posting articles that make me hate life in general?
Done, picture removed.
Sorry about that.

Well, that little icon doesn't say where the picture is, may just be someone else that isn't OP, posting a non related picture because people can be stupid.
No one is prepared to see a picture of a 'malnitritaioned baby' when clickling this thread.
You would think sixty years is a lot until you get a kick to the face by reality when you see the pictures of things like these, I hope that baby gets a good life and returns to good health.
why is that picture such a big deal

They deserve life in prison.

Starving a kid nearly to death because you wanted to party and have fun instead shows you really don't give a fuck about human life. Not exactly someone you want hanging with the rest of society.

The ability of the victim to defend him/herself is taken into account, which for an infant is absolutely zero. They essentially tortured the child for two months and waited for him to die. 60 is perhaps excessive, but 35-40 is definitely not so.
60 years is a bit excessive in my opinion
60 years is excessive, but sometimes being excessive can be a good thing. What if that kid lived through this? He would be living in hell with most likely abusive parents. They deserve 60 years, the legal system goes too easy on people (child rapists getting out in ten years. Fuck that, they should be executed or jail for life).

He struggles not to lick his lips, and quickly glances over his shoulder to ensure the privacy of his office area before clicking the link.
The pained, emaciated face of an infant stares back at him from his screen. "Finally," Riller whispers. "A chance to show everybody how hard I am..."

I am such a bad person for laughing at that picture

baby is live

Had better things to do than take care of your child? Changing the oil in the car takes priority over feeding your flesh and blood child? Holy shit, this sums up part of whats wrong with society today. Just seeing what I quoted makes me sickened and wish the freakin' world would end. Its not even an isolated incident, its just this particular case got brought to the public's eye.
I can only imagine what kind of awful children the parents were that menial tasks were more important than their child.
Do these people not know that hospitals are safe havens? They literally could have just taken the baby to one of those and been like "yo we can't care for this child because reasons", or orphaned him, given him to a foster family, or put him up for adoption, or LITERALLY ANYTHING besides keeping him in a room until he starves to death

Lack of common sense is fucking astounding to me sometimes

The hospital, a fire house, a police station, etc probably would have been too out of the way on a trip to the liquor store/their dealer/etc.
EDIT: Yes, it comes off as a joke and I feel terrible that it did.

You're blaming society for this? Don't get me wrong, I consider societal influences to be an extremely important part of determining how and where a person went wrong, but let's not go blaming WalMart for neglectful parents just yet.

Didn't mean to come off like that. Whenever I hear about an incident like this it just gets me really angry and I guess what I say/type come off as something other than what I meant.

Eh. It's not that. It fucking sucks that parents can't take care of their kids, it's absolutely horrible to see them say oil changes were more important than the kid's life, but when you click a thread about baby abuse, don't be surprised and/or offended when you see baby abuse.
