I don't see why the guy's in trouble, he wasn't doing it for money, so therefore the companies that produce the films/tv programs aren't losing out on any money? Seriously if a teenager like me can work this shit out surely the government can too

It's much easier and "safer" for them to just throw lawsuits indiscriminately and hope it works. And usually it does. It's not just about protecting their copyrighted work from being displayed, it's a way for them to suppress creativity in general outside of their own sphere of influence.

-snip, i'm probably wrong-
TVShack website hosted links to pirated films and TV programmes.
Sue Google.
Sue Google.
Oh they are trying, Google has been pressured by both private and government agencies to censor search results for years. Thank fuck Google is standing their ground, at least for now.
The US authorities say the 24-year-old's TVShack website hosted links to pirated films and TV programmes.
Big fucking deal.
Ban keyboards and mouses so that people can't potentially link to copyrighted material.
Extradition for copyright infringement is idiotic and needs to be banned from even being an option
Sue Google.
You've got to be kidding... You realise that the industry gets a big chunk of money from adverts, right?
