That's nice, I don't see why these updates are required though
You also won't be able to play Blu-ray movies or DVDs
wait why. no really, why. This is something so easily accomplished now by so many devices. Did you fuck your firmware for this or something?
That's nice, I don't see why these updates are required though
Probably because they have already begun the production process, its too expensive/impractical to patch stuff past a certain point, so nowadays its easier to just save it all up and put it out as a day one patch.
That's nice, I don't see why these updates are required though
Get the hardware out the door, then fix the software before release. A 10 minute download is better than a memorably bug-ridden launch.
wait why. no really, why. This is something so easily accomplished now by so many devices.
You don't want randoms who got their systems early playing ahead of launch.
But we're not talking games, we're talking movies. You can play disk based games fine, but movies come into play and suddenly we're backing away with "nooope, nope, gotta patch it, somethin wrong with it"

[editline]29th October 2013[/editline] Aaaand licensing deals might still need sorting out.
i bet im going to have to patch whatever game i put in while i update the console :p
Indeed they are.
Not really. Gotta read the contest rules. Boxes get shipped on the 12th, and if you're lucky you might get a system by the 15th which is launch anyway.
All Prize Claim PINs must be entered and prizes must be claimed on the Redemption Website by 11:59:59 PM ET on November 25, 2013 or the prize will be forfeited. Sponsors will ship prizes to each winner at the physical address provided at the time of registration on or about November 12, 2013. However, prizes won near the end of the promotion may not be shipped by this date; those prizes will be shipped after the potential winners have been verified. Game Entities are not responsible for any delays in awarding the prize for any reason. Each prize will only be awarded to a verified winner.
