Getting a new car by this summer, definitely want a sporty sedan
Right now I'm thinking either the Audi S4 or the Cadillac ATS
I feel biased because I'm an Audi fanboy.. But I'm thinking of getting an S4
There's a few used 2010 premium plus models selling near me for <$45,000
On the other hand, the ATS seems to have really positive reviews and it's a tad bit cheaper, though people seem to recommend the 2.0turbo vs the V6
Anybody have other suggestions?
*EDIT* really looking for a 4-door, so no coupes
But back legroom isn't really an issue or anything, it just needs 4 physical doors
*EDIT2* At this point I'd like to say that I'm not going to buy a car off of FP's suggestions. This is more a thread to just discuss the best sports sedan that isn't outrageously priced
get a CTS!
get a CTS!
I'll look into it
Are there any huge differences between the CTS and ATS?
CTS=M5/6 or something like that. I've heard the ATS is pretty good, but I'd wait for the next model year or so, with all the revisions.
cressida with 2jz swap pls.
The CTS-V is well over 45k and the CTS for under 45k is a dog. Go for the ATS if you're going to get something NEW.
You can get a used CTS-V for under that price though, even a couple years old and they are worht $20,000 less than they were out of the factory, so they get cheap quickly. No sense in buying a new one imo unless you really care about the few miles a mint used one will have.
To be honest if I couldn't have a CTS-V I wouldn't even consider a Cadillac. Much better (foreign) options out there.
Another American-made (Erm, Canadian...) choice would be the Dodge Charger, you can have the 5.7 liter Hemi and AWD for ~$38,000 in almost any color you like.
The S4 is over your $45k price tag already, so I assume you have some wiggle room?
A C-class Benz sedan can be had for your price as well, it's one of the few cheap Benz options. Next in line would be an E-class sedan, but it's about $5,000 over your budget.
The Infiniti M37 is great too, but it doesn't have an appealing sporty look like the Benz, Audi, or even the stereotypical grandpa Cadillacs. I just don't enjoy the visual appeal of it. If I went with an infiniti I'd also want the much fast, more powerful M56 instead, which is further from your price range unfortunately.
There's a few of my picks. *shrug*

Also the ATS and CTS are two entirely different cars, on two seperate platforms, so you know. The Alpha platform the ATS is based on is very small compared to the CTS, it's even considered a compact.

Yeah, that's about right. :v:

A used 2010 S4 goes for about $39k
So you're talking used... Well, there are thousands of options in that case.

Yep. I'd prefer re-certified or those sold by dealers though
Could get these new 2012 Buick Regal GS, they've got the same 2.0L turbo that the ATS have and they do look pretty nice.

That's still so many options. You could even probably consider as new as 2009 M5s.
C63?
Especially considering the 6.2 is going to be phased out soon. ugggh i want one so hard
Congratulations man, i wish i could be in your position.

V10 s6? I know it's not as fast as the m's and the amg's but i love the sound they make
2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 is around $47k and I consider it one of the few 4-doors that I actually like.

The Charger is actually wonderful. Our family rented one a white one a year ago. It drives as good as it looks, and we only had the smallest displacement model!
Chrysler 300 SRT8 is really nice, too.
Subaru has some decent options, 4 door imprezas, etc.
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO.
The s4 is a good choice.
A BMW that's a little older may fit the bill, too.
I suppose a Holden VE Commodore SS would be a nice car to look in to, I know both Chevrolet and Pontiac have imported and rebadged the VE models but I don't know to the fullest extent of how much they mutilated them though. It's a shame Ford in the US won't import Ford Australia's Falcon range because the XR8s are also pretty damn nice sport sedans like the Holden Commodore SV6 and SS. I don't like going "yeah straya cunt", but seriously there is no reason for you Americans to miss out on them.
However I do have to ask though, you have $45K but you aren't entirely sure on what car you want? You actually have to ask Facepunch to help make up your mind? I know if I had that much money and if I had my full licence I'd jump straight to the opportunity of getting an FPV GT (can't legally petrol engine cars with forced induction yet though). I'm not sure how rich you are or where you got the money from, but it's alot of money and I do wonder if you are taking it seriously.

I just wanted a general opinion on the best sports sedan
Honestly the suggestions won't change my mind either way, I was just curious of what you guys thought

4-Door R34 GTR
Will I be shunned for mentioning the Jag XF?
The 2010 v8 model seems to average about 35k (preowned)

Nothin' wrong with a XF as far as I've heard.
I think the xf is one of the best looking cars in the market today

Same but I keep hearing about how unreliable Jaguars are :/
No idea if it's true or not though, they are damn sexy cars

Wouldn't a 4 door Skyline be obnoxiously long? They aren't exactly small cars as a coupe.

The cars have hilariously bad electronics, at least when they first came out. The car would refuse to start because of some issue with keyless ignition, for example.

apparently it's 5 inches longer
the r34 sedan, that is

One of the Jaguar 4 door cars, the XK or the XF, had an expected reliability score with of -167% in Consumer Reports (2010 IIRC). It was the worst rated (expected reliability wise) car in the entire report.

Hmm yeah but now apparently im seeing that Jaguar really cleaned up their act in about 2005-6ish

What about Galant VR-4?
It seems sporty enough for a cheap price.
genesis 4 door with the 429hp 5.0l ?
