Prince Charles is said to have likened some Nazi actions in Europe to Mr Putin's policies, during a conversation with a former Polish war refugee. It is believed the Russian embassy has asked for clarification of the remarks.
A Foreign Office spokesman said an official would meet Russia's deputy ambassador for talks on Thursday.
Prince Charles reportedly made the comments during a conversation with Marienne Ferguson at an immigration museum in Nova Scotia, Canada where she works. They had been discussing Hitler's takeover of countries when Ms Ferguson said the prince remarked "something to the effect of 'it's not unlike... what Putin is doing,'".
The prince and the Russian president are both due to attend a D-Day anniversary event in France next month.
Time to liberate the oppressed Russian minority of Buckingham Palace?

You are acting like Hitler. That is all.
good ol' charles
Prince Charles has got himself into a bit of a Prince Albert..
What a tosser, Russia lost more people taking down the Nazis than the Brits and the Yanks combined, and he goes off and says shit like this.

What does that have to do with the way Putin is acting today?
I like how it's becoming popular to equate Putin with Hitler, kind of forgetting about things the latter did. Guys, he killed dozens of millions, and left half of Europe and USSR in ruins. He started a genocide. He wanted to fully exterminate all the jews, and had almost the same plans for slavs. Putin's policies may be dirty, but comparing him with Hitler is kinda the same as comparing a crazy maniac with a little kitty.

He was comparing the strategies Putin is using to the early strategies Hitler used, he's not saying that Putin is Hitler.
If your argument was any more of a strawman, the wicked witch of the west would start shooting fireballs at it.
 let the showdown commence

That wouldn't be a long talk; the comparison was very simple. I say good on the Prince for having more balls than every single politician in power over this crisis.

Well, yeah, I have to admit that there are some similarities in early Nazi Germany's policies and what we do now (i mean, expansionistic ways and such). The root difference is in ideology.
Anyways, I'm sorry, I guess I kind of overreacted about this comparison. Hard day at work, and stuff.

You're saying it like it wasn't the preventable result of their own rulers.

Russia is simply trying to protect what is rightfully theirs. These "post-soviet" states only came into existence because of a malignant campaign of sabotage, terrorism and overthrowing legitimate governments.
Just watch Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States, after the Vietnam war there was no way the west could be rationally called "the good guys". We have to ask if preserving the results of such an ill-gotten victory is really worth it.

That's so adorable deary
Go look into something that is based in facts and possibly called a book.
Most of these Post-Soviet states want Russia to go the hell away and leave them alone, some of said states joined this thing called NATO incase Daddy Russia wanted to come back.

rightfully theirs?????????????????
you do realize how the soviet union got into possession those "meaningless states"??
oh yeah thats right, they were the ones who used a "a malignant campaign of sabotage, terrorism and overthrowing legitimate governments."
the soviets had systematic murder camps where they would throw everyone who was associated with the legitimate governments of the countries they occupied and all those who tried to resist against the Soviet rule
fuck you if you say those areas "rightfully belong to them"
[editline]22nd May 2014[/editline]
half of my fucking family line was deported simply for not letting the soviets steal all their property and fighting for an independent Estonia
and the soviet union didn't collapse because of an "overthrow of a legitimate goverment" it collapsed because it was organized like wobbly pile of shit and the economy had stagnated for the past 30 years leaving people without and fucking goods
you are so wrong on everything its not even funny
I'd say he made his point pretty clearly the first time. :v:

How you feel if America lost the Cold War and western Europe joined the Warsaw pact and states like Maine or Texas became independent nations? Wouldn't you be pissed if they spent the next few decades trying to become Russian satellite States? Wouldn't you think a little American chauvinism would be justified?
ol' prince still has some cojones

From what i am reading, i am guessing you are a twelve year old that uses Call of Duty as his reference to World History. Watching the idiot box isnt healthy.

Call of Duty is one of the most pro-western franchises I have ever seen. How could I possibly base my views on that? It's as far from Oliver Stone and Noam Chomsky as you can get.
