A lot of people do not really like 3D movies. But with many new movies, seeing them without 3D isn't really an option. Enter 2D glasses, which strip the 3D out of 3D movies for your viewing pleasure.
Here's how they work, from the folks behind them:
When you watch a 3D movie, there are actually two images being projected onto the screen. That's why the screen is blurry when you look at it without glasses. In 3D glasses one of the lenses blocks one image and the other lens blocks the other image.
Thus, when you watch a 3D movie each of your eyes is seeing a slightly different image. Your brain combines those images together, creating the illusion of a 3D image.
2D Glasses block the same image with both lenses, so each eye gets the same picture resulting in a 2D image and an elimination of eyeball strain.
Brilliant, right? Well, if you want on board, you can get your own pair of 2D glasses for $10, shipping included. (By the way, ThinkGeek totally called these back during April Fools'.)

It's gotten that bad eh?
I knew there was a way to make more money off of 3D
erm............just go and see the film in 2D? its cheaper anyway.

The more 3D films that come out the more some cinema's tend to not show, or recieve a 2D copy of the film.

What would happen if you wore both these and 3D glasses
What would happen if you wore both these and 3D glasses
Don't divide by zero!
I can't stand 3D movies, I get headaches from them.

Third image
It's ALL purple
Or you know you could watch it in 3D, it's not that bad unless you get headaches.
the glasses are like $1 anyway and it's cheaper then buying a $10 pair of 2d glasses.
I guess it could be useful the 3D stuff get annoying after a while of watching.

4D
Don't be stupid do your maths it would be 5D glasses.
What would happen if you wore both these and 3D glasses
Pretty sure one of the eyes would be black due to conflicting polarization
Ordered. Not even kidding, thank you sweet merciful satan of science and black magic
If you wear the 2d glasses over the 3d glasses. You will see 2d but only in one eye. The other eye wouldn't see anything.
If you wear 3d glasses over 2d glasses You will also see it in 2d and also just one eye.
What would happen if you wore both these and 3D glasses
you could only see the movie with one eye
I think
Thank god the local cinemas here are cheap bastards and always have 2D and 3D.
I have yet to see a 3D movie.
if u get 2 polarised lenses, and place one in front of the other at a 90degree angle... its black.
but if you put another in between them at a 45 degree angle. it is only partially blackend
2d glasses.
An apature science invention.
You can make these by taking 2 pairs of 3D glasses and switching the lenses around... and it doesn't cost $10.
Watching a 3D movie in 2D?
I'm up for that :smug:
Should be a worthwhile experience like I've never seen before.
I can't stand 3D movies, I get headaches from them.
Yea, it can be cool if the movie is like 10 minutes.

But 3D glasses is much more expensive.
I think I'm actually buying this.
I fucking hate 3D, especially when there is no need at all for it in the film.

At least spell Aperture right if you're going to make a shitty joke.
I actually like 3D as long as it isn't post-production..
Charlie Brooker had the best idea to do with this:
"Modern 3D cinema technology works by ensuring your left eye sees one image while your right sees another. But they could, presumably, issue one pair of specs comprising two left-eye lenses (for children to wear), and another with two right-eye lenses (for adults). This would make it possible for parents to take their offspring to the cinema and watch two entirely different films at the same time. So while the kiddywinks are being placated by an animated CGI doodle about rabbits entering the Winter Olympics or something, their parents will be bearing witness to some apocalyptically degrading pornography. The tricky thing would be making the soundtracks match. Those cartoon rabbits would have to spend a lot of time slapping their bellies and moaning."
Now we are a few steps closer ^_^
3D is all fine, until some inbred fuckcompany doesn't know their shit it makes the "slight difference of both pictures" into a bick fucking difference, so the 3d effects doesn't work anymore, because the text would appear to be right infront of the eyes.
