So, I wanna learn basic Norwegian I know there are two types of Norwegian and I believe the area where we are heading speaks Basic Norwegian.. The reason I wanna lean it is because I plan on going there on a cruise ship and staying there for a while with my family since we all love skiing. Has anyone else tried to learn Norwegian and has a good way that I can learn to? And I was hoping for some software so I can see the word and hear to pronounced so I know I'm saying it right. I would also like to note were probably going to stay there for 2-3 weeks.
Some things I was going to try:
Rosetta Stone - They don't have Norwegian as one of the listed languages
http://www.amazon.com/Norwegian-10-Minutes-Day/dp/0944502393 - I read some good reviews on this
If anyone else has a good way to learn Norwegian please let me know.
Ask Spetzaz, he's Norwegian.
There's bound to be a few language books on Amazon.com that you can use to learn it, that's where my friend got his Spanish stuff
Pimsleur
Ask me, I'm Swedish and our language is so much better.

Ah you reminded me to look at your thread. I'm exactly the same way as you. Been wanting to learn German for the past few years but kept on putting it back because of school. Maybe I will get motivated haha.
Move to Norway.
Where in norway are you going? I live in the middle and i seriously can't stand people from south, they all sound like a gay frog trying to speak.
Step 1: Become a Viking
Step 2: Move to Norway
Step 3: Assimilate
school
1. Become Hindu
2. Die
3. Be reborn Norwegian

Sorry to go a bit off topic.
rosetta stone not having Norwegian is surprising to me.

How would that even work
Why learn Norwegian
WHEN YOU CAN LEARN RUSSIAN? YOU WILL BE DOING PLANTINGS OF RED ARMY FLAG ON THE CAPITOL BUILDING OF YOUR ENEMIES LANDS IN NO TIME AT ALL COMRADE.
"my language has better...conjugations than yours!"
Play a video game that you have played so much that you know the dialog really well, change language and you will have a good enough grasp on the language to start something similar to Rosetta Stone.
Rosetta Stone would have been my choice, but there are other programs like RS, why not google them or something?
The teach yourself Swedish book is good, I expect the teach yourself Norwegian book is also good.

Oh and if you are just learning it for a 2-3 week break don't even bother. The grammar is much different to english, e.g there is no word for "the".
