I feel like our generation is meant to be dumbed down.

I have a question do you think that this generation was setup to be dumbed down?
The reason I asked that is because people think a 3 minute news clip is going to tell them about the whole situation.
Or when music use to actually carry a message but now it's just retarded dances, booze, sex and all over again.
It's seems like our generation was meant to be dumbed down. No more protest or anything that's worth fighting for. We just allow things to run over us. It's almost as if were powerless.
So what do you think about this or is it just me dumbing down?
its the governunt thay want 2 control uz fite the power
I blame you, Megan Fox. With your hot, hot body
And a lot of music does have meaning; listen to something by Elbow or Muse and tell me it's meaningless.

It's common knowledge. But we are already over that and just ignore it. And let the jumb be dumbed down even more.

Then listen to solja boy and tell me it's meaningless
I expect most generations felt a similar way about themselves.
I agree, I feel like our generation is overprotected as well.
"Oh noes! Blood on TV!!!!! (lawsuit ensues)
I also feel like we're almost trapped by rules and regulations, like getting in a fight is gets you in a ton of trouble these days now that school have a zero-tolerance bully policy. Back in the day it would have been a slap on the wrist for fighting now it's expulsion.
There's other complaints I have but those are just a sample.

I wish they played it on the radio. I really do. Every station I turn on I hear the songs in this order;
1) "Ay.. Do the stanky leg... When I am in a club.. I do the stanky leg.. Ay.. Stanky leg." - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNW7QdM2Kw8
2) Whats hannining? (yes happening reinvented by Soulja Boy) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDgLkXdWoMc
3) Then a decent song comes on.
Mainstream rap is fucking ruining record labels.
Ya think, I wrote an essay about it at school, Got an A*

I'm so happy there are still some decent radio channels airing good music every now and then. There is this Danish one who plays old rock from the 50-90's using a very good selection. It's just nice to hear there are still someone who dares to play music from the past.

Actually a lot of the older generations are proud of their generation. Many are beginning to see that many of us don't like our generation and much of its music, which is sort of new.
Yeah, a lot of stuff these days are pretty dumbed down for a culture in which concepts such as "instant gratification" and being the "center of the universe" is important.
Most mainstream music these days doesn't have much meaning beyond drugs, sex, and violance. Hell, you don't even have to have any talent onceoever to be successful in the music industry, as long as you look attractive to clueless teenage girls. (The Jonas Brothers)
Take "musicians" like Justin Bieber for instance, and his "smash hit" "One Time":

This 15 year old kid sounds like he hasn't even hit puberty yet, and he has a full CD coming out soon. He sounds like Fred without any computer modification to his voice.
So how would Hollywood find a kid like this? YouTube. That's right, he got famous because he sang a rap song about sex, drugs, and violance and posted it on YouTube. Girls loved him because they thought he was "OMG SOOOO SEXY,"and Hollywood signed him to a record deal.
Which leads into a bigger issue the current generation faces: The Internet. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the like promote the "center of the universe" mentality that kids these days seem to think. They think the WHOLE WORLD really cares about some useless rant on Twitter.
I wish I lived in a city that was not crowded with idiots. There is not a radio station in my city that plays good music. Not ONE!
This is why every single person in my school (private) has an Ipod. But I pwn them cause I have a Ipod Touch. (I'm Megan Fox, duhh! - Sarcasm.)
I blame disney with their introduction of The Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana, as well as the other music people but those are the big ones.

This, one hundred times this.

And why does Megan Fox go to school?
And why does Megan Fox go to school?
That was sarcasm. Obviously.
10 years from now our generation will have to clean up the world from pollution, economic failure, the Gray Dawn, as well as other issues the previous generations have let build up and become our problem. Once we fix these problems we can be proud of ourselves and hopefully we will go down in the history books as a great generation.
Yes, we are dumbing down, and it's awesome
I think stupidity is genetic, to be honest.
Would explain a lot. Then again, so would pizza.
And fish and chips.
And tacos too.

Good lord what the hell did I just type.

We'll be dead in 4 years, with 2012 and shit
Oh no! Our generation is in decline! Communists at our doorsteps, our kids are listening to rock and roll, and my fallout shelter might not hold in the event of a nuclear attack, and we all have polio.
Oops, I mean...terrorists at our doorsteps, our kids are listening to rap, my shelter might not hold in 2012, and we all have the swine flu.

This is one reason 2012 (i know its bs) would be good.
A fresh start

Unlucky you. I can listen to classic rock, country, oldies, 80s hits, and a whole variety of music around here.
I'm going to say about 80% of music with lyrics is about love or romance in one form or another.

You best be trollin'.

You know that could happen, not saying it will but it's not all BS.
I agree with this ALOT
Step 1 Punch everyone in the face who listens to shitty music.
This is a good thing-- smart people stand out from the crowd, just in another way.
90% of today's youth won't be hired due to the crap and the bad image they leave of themselves on social networks.
I think we need to do what previous generations did when they thought they were looking weak, start a world war.
