Does anyone else feel like you are not into the gaming anymore like you used to be before? Right now I have this feeling. I'm 21yo btw. It just feels like all the games are same today. I remember back in the day I used to play a lot and I mean A LOT, like 4 to 8 hours a day but now it just feels like I don't enjoy games that much anymore. I want to be into gaming again because I enjoyed it a lot and it used to be fun but at the same time I want to change my life and get rid of this lifestyle (computer, games and shit...) Could I be depressed or just tired of playing games? Share your story.
I don't think you're depressed, but it's clear that you're pretty sick of gaming. I've been the same way for about 3-4 years now. All I do when I'm on the computer is browse FP and Youtube, occasionally playing a game for a short time.
I'm 14 years old, and yes I've experienced these types of feelings before. I am actually sort of getting the feeling now. I spend hours upon hours just surfing the web and every now and then I go to Steam to try and find a game to play in my library. I just scroll up and down the list of games for a few minutes and then decide that I have nothing to play and just go back to surfing the web.

I used to spend every waking moment playing video games but not I just get bored of them/rage quit pretty easily and end up browsing the internet
It's a sign you're growing up. I'm sorry... It's terminal.
Eh people go through cycles. When you've got lots you want or need to do then you can only spend so much time on hobbies. If you're bored of it, let it go for awhile. You'll get back into them eventually.
I've seen this happen to a lot of people who played game constantly when they reach this age. Myself included. Really, I just needed to take on a new hobby alongside games to break up the monotony. I wouldn't say it's depression, just typical boredom.
A lot of my time on the computer is less gaming and more gaming media (videos, posters, mods, ETC) if all you ever do is play games it's pretty inevitable you'll start to feel empty like you're playing for the sake of killing time and not because you enjoy the game. I understand how you feel, but when i feel like that it's usually because there's no interesting games out there to grab my attention
It's a sign you're growing up. I'm sorry... It's terminal.
I would do anything to be young again :C
I stopped gaming once I started college; I simply had too much to do and I couldn't dedicate the time. I found other hobbies in the meantime, and now I put more time towards those hobbies than gaming. I still enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but between classes, other hobbies, and my social life, I just don't find myself sitting down with a game for hours on end anymore.
Hello my name is gerbe1 and I haven't played a video game for three months. I realised I had a problem one year ago when I started rolling dice to decide which game on my steam list to play and then force quitting it whilst it was loading and just staring at my screen because I didn't really feel like it at all. After almost a year of that, I decided to leave my room and do other things instead of games and haven't looked back since. I even have friends now! They're not made of pixels either!

I'm not interested in gaming as much anymore because I'm at Uni currently learning the skills to get a job making them instead. It's a fair trade. It's not as though my interest has vanished though. I'll always play and love games. Maybe you've just found other stuff to do in life other than play games? There's nothing wrong with that.
Sometimes I get an urge to play a game but I end up stopping as soon as I get to the menu. What is wrong with me?
Sometimes I get an urge to play a game but I end up stopping as soon as I get to the menu. What is wrong with me?
You're normal.
could be a stage you could try smaller, cheaper games that don't play as long (Indie title's of course) something light hearted and plain simple maybe. Nothing big. just a nice, simple game that nongamers and gamers could enjoy alike. Nothing like angry birds, I'm talking like, Rochard, or similar you could also feel like you don't want to be TOO engaged but only find things that are too engaging for you. Some games are EXTREMELY attention stealing and need you to really focus. [editline]11th October 2014[/editline] personally I range from indie to huge action/adventure/rpg worlds you'll easily feel they are all the same if you don't change it around but idk maybe you are and are just bored. maybe they are all the same. another similar hobby though would be watching some good tv shows.
Sometimes I buy or reinstall a game and I most likely wont even bother to finish it since I just eventually get bored of it quickly. Sometimes I find a game that I love but its not very often. Strange since early this year I would be playing games a lot, now I barely do.

I get this feeling from time to time. My lack of motivation comes from my subpar computer, though. I have plenty of games I'd like to play and would probably enjoy, but they run so poorly, it doesn't even feel worth it. Plus, by the time I can afford the parts for a better one, I'll have already been too invested in my line of work to bother with playing them much. Growing up is hard, especially when you have your license to practice and are awaiting employment as we speak.
As a wise man once told me, "You don't stop playing because you grow old... ...You grow old because you stop playing" To this day I still play Gameboy, SNES, N64 games, basically anything that built me in my childhood. I play plenty of PC games and still enjoy them. I usually never get that lack of motivation to play games, ever. If I do get that feeling, I try something new. I see what big games are out and which ones everyone is talking about, and that's what continues my lust of playing games. Always trying something new. Half the time whenever I hear someone not having that same interest of games that they had before is because they don't go out and see what other game genres and titles have to offer. My advice is to try something new. If you never really got into the RPG genre, then try it. Don't like fighting games? There's like a million out there completely different from one another. Try some. The feeling of jumping into a new game blindly that offers something completely different than other games is honestly the best feeling, and that's what keeps me motivated and interested in video games to this day. I hope all of you well. Cheers.
for me its buy an old classic title never play it ever then I look at my library, sighing at all the money I could have spent on "Not played"
Towards the end of my realisation I wasn't enjoying games was a summer or winter sale (I forget which) and I bought a whole tonne of things that I never touched. Big expensive gaming titles too, but it was like "it's on discount!!"
I haven't played a single computer game in almost a whole year... at least, I used to play a lot until my pc couldn't handle it. Now I'm barely able to be online. I went through a period of 'whatever I don't need games to be happy' but that's not true, gaming is such a huge part of my lifestyle and it's one of the mediums I use with my gf. It makes us both happy to play games and thus, with her, I never get bored. No matter what it is! Do you have friends or a loved one to play with? It makes such a huge difference. Humans are social creatures, inspiration comes so easily when you are not alone in your quest.
I felt that way until I found a new niche. I used to like the high octane action games like Halo and now I like to relax with story based narrative games like Mass Effect. Sometimes I can put in some older games I liked but I just like to relax when I game now. Maybe you just need to find a new genre.
I play less games than I used to but I still love games. It probably is just you getting a bit tired of it. It's a fair thing that you wanna change your life style though, but you don't need to cut out games entirely to do that. Try some new games once in awhile if you get the urge, ones that you know nothing about or are out of your usual comfort zone for games, you'll probably get really interested!
Lately you can mostly see me playing with friends rather than playing alone. However, since I'm working on a pretty big project, I am a LOT in the SDK. But ocassionally I lose my inspiration for a few and then I start browsing around on Facepunch. [T]http://upl.kittehcat.org/2014-10-12_11-22-04.png[/T] more than 4/5th of the playtime here is spent in the SDK.

To this day it's still one of my favorite games, it felt like I was falling in love with video games all over again.
Because games are a waste of time, and I don't have much time anymore. I used to only just go to school, but now I study at uni full-time (much more intense than school), work around 36 hours every week and I have my own place to look after. When I'm not doing any of the above I want to make the most of it; enjoy the weather, visit some mates, chicks etc. I got a PS4 on its launch but I only turn it on like once every other week. I'll occasionally play Kerbal Space Program if I'm really bored but that's it. Otherwise I'm using my iPad or watching TV.
Games used to be good but then EA ruined it. Try to play anything without rage or obtaining OP. It's nearly impossible because some people will want to ruin your fun. It's dark times of gaming history we live right now.
Occasionally, I shoot a few Dr. Kleiners in Garry's Mod, but that's the most I play these days
