This game looks bloody awesome. Why must it come while I'm debating getting Borderlands. D:
Bought! Been waiting for this.
Purchased. Looks so awesome.
For a moment I thought this was Sensationalist Headlines and I shat my pants.
Then I realized it was a game and the mess was reabsorbed.
Holy shit its out already? AraRGTGGhhh
TOO MANY GAMES. TOO LITTLE TIME
someone should make a thread for this so i can rage about getting to sector 7 then getting raped by rockmen boarding partys and solar flares
Just got this, it's really fun, one of the best purchases I've made recently.
Yeah it's a really cool little game.
Recommended.
Learned about this game 3 days before released, bought it today, awesome game.
Just asked my dad to get this on Steam (have yet to get my card activated) and his face lit up, apparently he's been keeping an eye on this as well :v:
This game's pretty tough. I've slowly been getting better, but damn I'm loving the difficulty. Fighting in space shouldn't be easy.
Teleporters are a bitch though.
its the only indie game i can think of where the retro graphics make sense
What is this not so good looking game and why is it so popular?

its a spaceship combat game only good
This game is kicking my ass. I guess I'm pretty bad at this.

Looks great imo. The graphics are tiny and cute, but it certainly doesn't lack detail. Plus I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I've already put in 3 hours into just by playing individual little games. I sit down, play one life, go do something else, and inadvertently I am back to playing FTL. It's great; the game doesn't take much to get into, and the gameplay is very easy to just pick up.
Loving it so far, and worth way more than the $8.99 I spent on it.

And they work beautifully when your ship has them. I'm convinced that boarding action and a crew full of mantis men or marine drones is the only sensible way to tackle the final boss.
lol, the eu steam store is 9€ (10% off from 10€) but the website is $9 and it comes drm free and with a steam key.
Great game. Challenging as fuck. It only takes one wrong encounter to make the feeling of being master of all life and death go away and get completely murdered as if you were an ant fighting a shoe on a collision course towards you.

Honestly I wasn't expecting to play this for more than an hour or two, but suddenly it was 3am wtf

I don't like the Engi ship. :v:
the engi ship works well if you set the gun to autofire on there weapons and let the drone finish them off. a lot depends on luck though, one playthrough i got a second burst laser 2 and a bording drone in sector 1 up until sector 6 and 7 it was piss easy with that setup
how to unlock ships

Jesus christ this game is addictive. I keep getting absolutely dicked on in sectors 5-7, mostly because I am an idiot. There has been so many times where I have been way too over-confident and I get into an unnecessary fight where my opponent gets a lucky hit through my shields and hits my oxygen supply or something, starts a fire and burns up my crew in the blaze trying to repair the oxygen supply.
I can't believe how many times I have elimated my own assault team by teleporting them onto a ship and then finishing them off in the next salvo as well. You would think I would have learnt by now to check the hull of the enemy ship. Nope.
The last game I was in, I finished off an enemy ship after they'd boarded me, and was left with one guy after the boarders had been finished off. The door controls were fried, so I couldn't remotely access the doors to the airlocks (which I'd opened to kill the boarders). There was barely any oxygen in the ship at all, and the O2 systems were damaged, and I had to have my single crew member sit in the medical bay, losing and regaining health at exactly the same rate.
Eventually I had to jump back to a shop I'd passed, sell both my weapons to get enough scrap to buy another crew member and fix the hull, and then used that crew member to fix the doors so I could close the airlocks and eventually use what was left of the oxygen to fix the life support systems.
And I think that eventually the original crew member died as well, leaving just one guy on a fixed ship with no offensive capabilities at all.
He didn't make it... But GOD I love this game.
God dammit steam its been 6 days and I am still hacked I want to buy games now :c

I had a similar experience. Narrowly won a battle but I had opened all the airlocks and I only had 3 crewmembers left stuck on 1/10th health in the medical bay. With the damage oxygen supply on the other side of the ship.
I really love some of the choices you face. In a normal game with options you have two choices; Ethical (game might be 5% harder for 30 seconds), or unethical(you score $50). I confess even if I try not to I'm usually the white knight in general rpg games, but with this I actually go for the "let the pirates obliterate the settlers for bribe money, it's not worth risking my ship over".
I just wanted to try out my new crew teleporter and now 2/3 of my crew died in a glorious explosion on an enemy ship. :(
Had an almost fully pimped out Engi type A ship but was unable to even scratch the final boss because I got unlucky in finding any good weapons throughout the game. Its shields absorbed everything I threw at it. My ship lasted for quite a while though
