The ex-SNP leader will formally announce his candidacy on Sunday, according to Sky Correspondent James Matthews. It is thought that Mr Salmond will stand in the UK parliamentary constituency of Gordon on an SNP ticket. The seat is currently held by Sir Malcolm Bruce, the long-serving Liberal Democrat MP who is retiring in May 2015. James Matthews added: "It is no great surprise. There has been much speculation, none of that denied by Alex Salmond itself. He will not retire as an active politician.
This will be very fun.
For someone who hates Westminster he can't help but keep coming back to it.
his constituency is aberdeen and he said he would continue if they wanted him to so how is this news?
For someone who hates Westminster he can't help but keep coming back to it.
That's not really the point. He hates how Westminster has control over a lot of things, but he isn't going to do a good job contesting that in the scottish parliament, he'd have more results going to the source. He's also going to donate his pay if he gets elected http://news.sky.com/story/1387365/alex-salmond-will-donate-pay-if-elected-as-mp
