Just use a leaf saw to saw through the plastic cover on top. You also need a knife or something to punch in a hole for the saw to saw. Then just saw according to those lines. You don't even have to strip it the box is easily strong enough. Then glue plastic sheet or something under it and use soldering irona nd some wire to add LED lights feeding power off the fans under it for awesome effect and for extra awesome cut the metal cover for insides as well, it's absolutely useless and lack of it makes cooling better and since there's less to rattle it becomes actually somewhat quieter.
Just odn't have it plugged in and you won't even need to strip it and it'll look awesome.
I did that to my first xbox. Just remember to use only same coloured LED's, multible colours look ugly.
You can trust me, I modify alot of stuff, my laptop's modified, my guitar amp is modified, my shelf is made of old bike frame and floats in air etc.

that looks brilliant with LED's. But you really want to cut away the metal casing underneath, atleast under the glass or it won't look that good. You can do it with the leaf saw easily.
