Canada's Wonderland Unleashes Leviathan in 2012
VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 18, 2011
VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 18, 2011 /CNW/ - In 2012, Canada's Wonderland will unveil one of the biggest and tallest roller coasters in the world: Leviathan. When the Park opens in May 2012, Leviathan will dominate the Park's landscape, taking riders to breathtaking heights and speeds never experienced before at Wonderland.
The excitement begins on Leviathan's first lift hill as riders climb to a record breaking height of 306 feet (93.3M) followed by an exhilarating 80 degree drop. Reaching a top speed of 148 kilometers per hour, riders will experience extreme coaster thrills on 5,486 feet (1,672M) of track that includes a series of giant camelback hills reaching heights up to 180 feet (54.9M), and an astonishing overbanked hammerhead turn at 115 degrees that will cross above the Park's front gate at 147 feet (44.8M) high.
"Leviathan will be our 16th coaster and now positions Canada's Wonderland as one of the top three coaster destinations in the world." said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager, Canada's Wonderland. "We will go higher, longer, and faster than ever before when we launch Leviathan in 2012. With the addition of this new coaster and our diverse collection of rides, shows and attractions, we continue to show why Canada's Wonderland is the destination of choice for those seeking world class thrills and family entertainment".
Leviathan is designed and manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, of Monthey, Switzerland. The highly recognized industry leader in roller coaster development also constructed Behemoth, which premiered at Canada's Wonderland in May 2008.
Construction is well underway at the park, with a completion date of May 2012. Guests who would like to experience Leviathan before the Park opens next year can visit http://www.leviathan.canadaswonderland.com to view ride renderings, specifications, construction updates, and experience a virtual ride simulation.
Canada's Wonderland is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor water park resort and five hotels. Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, Calif. under a management contract.

Looks like a slightly bigger, more intense Behemoth.

It pretty much is. Most of the company's roller coaster layouts are very similar.

Think of it as Behemoth 2.0.
I thought B&M was some obscure fetish I wasn't aware of.
This thread was disappointing.
Lovely how our brain gets fried and sees that drop as past-vertical when you're on it.
I love B&M rides, they're just straight up speed and G's, smooth track, massive space covered.
Oh boy, can't wait to try this one out; I really liked Behemoth.

If Rollercoast Tycoon 4 had these graphics, I would play it :v:
Behemoth was just like Millenium Falcon in Cedar Point. I dunno, steep steel coasters seem to lose effect over time.
I'll be riding it though
Looks like Nitro from Great Adventure NJ, Just bigger and faster- Same Car style too.
Why did they put sounds of people screaming? The train is empty.
Ghost train. :tinfoil:
Edit: Never mind, I see the people now. Ghost people.
Looks a bit boring to me. It doesn't seem to have any upside down bits nor corkscrews, and half of it is just gently sloping rises.

It's made by the same company.

These kinds of rides are designed NOT to have inversions. The hills you travel over are designed to create what's known as airtime, which is the feeling of being literally ejected out of your seat. From experience, believe me, it's a shitload scarier than just being flipped upside-down and having your head pushed into your lap.
this is creepy as fuck, video is implying all the people on that coaster are dead
I'm too much of a pussy to ride it anyways
It is?
Need to be taller.
Behemoth scared the shit out of me so much I didn't ride it until earlier this May. This is yet another coaster I won't be riding for a few years.
Also, it's really funny to hear all the radio announcers fail to say "leviathan."
That video(And the POV one) seemed rather generic...
Need to be taller.
It's one of the top ten tallest coasters in the world as it is.

I mean seriously, just look at that thing.
That video made me cringe. I hate roller-coasters.
I love rollercoasters, those free fall drops rides are a different story.
This, for some reason, reminds me of that euthanasia coaster thing, the one that would kill you if you took a ride.
I wonder if old people get heart attacks on things like this leviathan coaster
the amount of airtime from that , especially on the first drop , would be insane
Your stomach would briefly pop out of your ass.

That happens to my granddad every day, though he's never told me why.
This makes the Mamba at World's Of Fun Look like a toy.
I love Goliath in Magic Mountain. Big, long, curvy, fast rollercoasters are the way to go.
The background looks alot like Warners Brothers Movie World.
worst pickup line ever: "hey babe wanna ride take a ride on the leviathan"

And you came up with that? Nice job.
