The cooperation is the latest indication that the federal probe into President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman is intensifying. It also could potentially provide Mueller with additional leverage to get Manafort to cooperate in the larger investigation into Trump’s campaign, as Trump does not have pardon power over state crimes. The two teams have shared evidence and talked frequently in recent weeks about a potential case, these people said. One of the people familiar with progress on the case said both Mueller’s and Schneiderman’s teams have collected evidence on financial crimes, including potential money laundering. No decision has been made on where or whether to file charges. “Nothing is imminent,” said one of the people familiar with the case. Manafort has not been accused of any wrongdoing and has previously denied it. A spokesman for Manafort didn’t return phone calls seeking comment. I had a terrible suspicion that Paul Manafort was slimy from the start. I'll bet any digging into his affairs is sure to bear fruit for Mueller's probe.

Genuinely curious, not trying to Conch things up here: if manafort is guilty (he is), what does that mean for trump being guilty?
Genuinely curious, not trying to Conch things up here: if manafort is guilty (he is), what does that mean for trump being guilty?
he'll probably take the fall for the entire thing.
Genuinely curious, not trying to Conch things up here: if manafort is guilty (he is), what does that mean for trump being guilty?
It doesn't directly mean Trump is guilty but it would likely establish that Manafort had improper dealings with Russians. Which contradicts a whole bunch of Republican assertions and cover stories. Basically, if Mueller can nail Manafort for things involving Russia, consider domino #1 tipped over. It also makes it more likely that Mueller could offer him immunity in exchange for him flipping and becoming an informant against Trump. As Trump's campaign manager before his official declaration of candidacy and a prominent name in various alleged meetings and dealings between Trump's people and Moscow, you can imagine that he might possess a lot of damaging information. Revealing his financial crimes might also be evidence for the Trump investigation on its own, as he was working with/for the campaign and so his finances are conceivably linked to the campaign and his work for them.
Genuinely curious, not trying to Conch things up here: if manafort is guilty (he is), what does that mean for trump being guilty?
manaford was trump's number 2 for quite some time and trump suddenly scrubbed him from his campaign, even denying that he knew the guy, but he also stayed in connection it appears
It says that he can't pardon state crimes, but it is actually even better than just that. To receive a pardon for the federal crimes, an admission of guilt is required. So if Trump pardons Manafort's federal crimes and they are linked to the state crimes, that admission of guilt can be used to slam dunk the state case. In the same way, if Trump is caught up in all of this, and he pulls a Nixon and resigns only to receive a pardon from Pence, that is also an admission of guilt that will drown him in state cases.

Running for President may have been the biggest mistake of Trump's life
Running for President may have been the biggest mistake of Trump's life
It was already, he thought he could sit around Being Important and massaging his immense ego but instead he's one of the most hated people in the world :v:
I had a terrible suspicion that Paul Manafort was slimy from the start.
Lordy.
This is more or less a day or a few short of the timeframe of when Felix Sater commented that he would be well known.

No matter what you think about Trump, Manafort is poison and always has been.
