smack at least 1 of each type of demon with your flashlight
Finish the game without using your flashlight
Kill a cyberdemon with a flashlight?
That's a feat i want to see achieved.
Finish the game without using your flashlight
That's actually not too hard, with graphics all maxed out.. You can see relatively fine with your flashlight off. I've already beaten D3/RoE without using my flashlight on a play through once. Kind of bothers me that BFG edition is gonna have a shoulder mounted flashlight instead, you're removing a classic gameplay element from D3 and you're removing one of the challenges that the game had.
I also don't know why they used that shitty song for their teaser when they already had a perfectly fine theme already.

It was a stupid challenge. I'd rather call it a logic failure.
"lol what's duct tape???"
Unless duct tape doesn't exist in the future and people don't prefer to combine things and love to hold each item separately.
Having a hand-held flashlight was one of the few games the game actually did right in terms of its horror side. It means you had to choose between either your guns or your ability to see - it was a trade-off. Now you can run through the facility with heavy ordinance AND be able to see. There really won't be any reason to turn it off.
Maybe make the armor-mounted flashlight have a "battery" meter that regenerates reeeally slowly and can't be activated unless the battery has greater or equal 25% charge, but make the flashlight have an infinite battery? :o

That is literally the shittiest mechanic. Oh I know, we can make it better by having your battery drain every time you want to sprint too. So if you're sprinting and have your flash light on, your battery will be raped twice as hard. What an exhilarating mechanic that will be.
Sure they may have added bloom/DOF, maybe upscaled some of the textures
The ONLY incentive for me to buy this is the new "Lost Mission" thing, and that alone isn't worth $30 for me to buy the exact same game again.
those sound like enhancements to me!!

This isn't Half-Life 2, bro. And I think you my suggestion way too personally.

Doom 3 has NO suspense or tension at all when you're able to use your flashlight and your weapon at the same time. That's why in vanilla D3 you can't. I've used a mod where you were able to use your flashlight and your weapon at the same time and D3 didn't have the same feel at all. Since you didn't have to gamble your safety you never had to worry about anything at all.
I hate how they keep using that...
There's nothing enhanced about this re-release.
Sure they may have added bloom/DOF, maybe upscaled some of the textures; but nothing more.
My original Doom 3 can become 100 times more 'enhanced' than this just by downloading this single mod:

(If you download this mod from here and have never heard of it before, know that the default bloom settings are horrible on it and you'll either want to turn them down to your liking or off completely if you know how)

That mod is hilarious considering half the claims are BS. Sikkpin did the lighting and nothing else, and models sure as well weren't sikkpin's, they're mine, EvilEngine's, and Revility's. Cool story bro.

The game really isn't scary, and I beat it yesterday using the Perfected Doom 3 mod. Even without a shoulder light (which the mod has, but it's a very thin beam of light compared to your flashlight, only seeing directly what's infront of you), the enemy spawns are predictable half the time and nearly every enemy announces their presence before running into your area. The second half of the game doesn't even put you in constant, perpetual darkness like the first half, and that just has enemies in nearly every corridor anyway.
Really, the only 'scary' thing was the motherfucking Cherubs, and that's because they are downright one of the most annoying enemy types in the whole game.
would be nice if owners of original doom3 could get a cheaper 'upgrade' on steam.

There will probably be some kind of dlc.

Would you mind linking to your models? I really don't want to support another HD mod that takes all of its work from other people.

Seems to be prevalent these days cough ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 )
Still no word on if previous owners get this upgrade.
I already own Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Doom 2 Master Levels, and Final Doom. There is no way that I will purchase the game again just to get the added levels.

Carmack said that all the mods that work with the original Doom 3 will work with this version, so I assume folks will be able to back-port the new content and features to the original versions of the game. Although that'd probably not be legal, but that didn't stop folks from putting in the double-barreled shotgun from RoE into the original 3rd.
