Can Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound be used for GPU as well? or is it meant only for CPU?
I think I've heard that silver based paste isn't good for gpu's, lemme find the source.

Right, it's here. Linus says it when he's applying the paste.

I tried looking at the video where he said that but I couldn't find it in the part where he was applying the paste, anyway that is false. You can use Arctic Silver 5 on a CPU or GPU without any problems. Its not good of you get a giant mess all over the PCB and circuitry since silver based compound is technically conductive but you shouldn't be doing that with any kind of thermal paste anyway.
Yeah, I just used some on my GF's GPU, just be careful not to put too much since the GPU has a smaller area than CPU's even (at least the 4830 did). I wouldn't use it for a replacement for the sticky pads, though.
I am done now, and btw it was my first time of doing this stuff. For some reason I took off all heatsinks and applied bit on rest as well, not sure though what rest 2 were, 1 was big one saying ASUS and another had microchip saying Intel.
Hopefully you cleaned the old stuff off of them first. Applying it on top of the old stuff wouldn't be effective.

Yes I did. GPU and chipset heatsink were the hardest to clean, since they are so tiny.
Did it improve temps at all?
Well yes,
Now:
Idle:
CPU: 30-35 C.
GPU: 41 C
In Game: (Css with all max settings on server with 13 people)
CPU: 42 C
GPU : 47 C
SO I would say it helped.
