Ah, NVIDIA, how far you've come. This time last year we were all wondering if your first Fermi GPUs would operate successfully without a nuclear reactor in our backyards, yet today you're introducing a successor to one of the best value-for-money GPUs the PC gaming world has seen in ages. Yes, the GTX 560 Ti has mighty big shoes to fill, but it's off to a good start with 384 CUDA cores running at 1645MHz, 1GB of GDDR5 RAM running at an effective rate of 4GHz, and an 822MHz graphics clock -- each one a clear and pronounced upgrade over its GTX 460 predecessor. You'll have to check out the reviews below for a detailed breakdown of what those numbers will mean on a game-by-game basis, but there's another way in which this new card is proving its impact already.
ATI AMD has (conveniently) chosen to cut the prices of its Radeon HD 6870 and HD 6950 cards today, while also outing an HD 6950 with just 1GB of onboard memory to serve as a direct competitor to NVIDIA's latest. Competition, ladies and gentlemen, it's an awesome thing.
Reviews are in the source link.
Fuck. Yeah!
Nice move, can't wait to see ATi counter.
Though I have no need to upgrade from my 5770 for some time, pirces and vaules should be good for people planning.
-snip-
That doesn't seem like too bad a card, a bit pricey, but all nVidia cards are at launch. If I do decide to upgrade my rig any time soon (not a chance in hell) I would probably consider one of these, once the price goes down a bit that is.
AMD better have something good in store.
Damn.
If I saved $50 more dollars I could of bought that rather then the 460 GTX
Reading the Anandtech review I found out that this thing is pin compatible with the GTX 460, meaning card makers can just drop this into existing GTX 460 designs as long as they can handle the slight bump in heat and power draw. That means MSI will probably make a GTX 560 Ti Cyclone.
Now I'm torn between getting another Cyclone 460 1gb in SLI with my current one and getting a GTX 560 Ti. Probably just gonna get another 460 since it's a cheaper and more dramatic upgrade.

I'm stuck with the same decision. The 500 series is nice, but: GTX460 x 2 > GTX560 x 1
It's a really sexy card, but unless the price drops it's probably better to get 5800's and crossfire them later.
Glad I bought EVGA's, I can step up the 460's I just bought once I get another paycheck.
Now I'm starting to regret buying a 6950.
Even though I unlocked it, I could have saved quite the buck with this, but then I would have no eyefinity.
Oh well, no way I could've know.

Fuck shit shitting fuck nuts. I just paid for a 6850 a few days ago. If I would have known I could have gone for a nicer card I would have waited.

Depends on what games you play. Neither card has a total lead.
If EK release a waterblock for this within the next ~2 weeks I'll get one.
Still stuck with ATI due to four displays...
I'd enjoy giving NVIDIA a try, though.

Since it will also be released in current GTX 460 builds, you can probably use a GTX 460 waterblock on them.
I got a free GTS450 512MB card for christmas, so no complaints here. :smug:
$250, yet £200 in the UK. I hate English hardware prices.

that card sucks
so how does this compare to my 9800GTX+
that card sucks
Maybe for you it sucks, but it shreds through Source games much better than my 8800GTS did. Also, it encodes x.264 much faster too.
also it was free?
Some people are overclocking these to GTX 570 levels.

It overclocks pretty well.
also it was free?
Yes, my step-dad works at nvidia labs here in Beaverton, Oregon. It was a card out of the lab that tested fine, and they let him have it. He even flashed it with the latest BIOS firmware and everything for me.
I feel so loved. :h:
Holy shit, it performs almost as well as the 480

I like the part where he says "one jiggahertz"
I assume this would be bottlenecked by my Q6600. Might as well make a whole new build anyways.
overclock that q6600 and you'll be set
even without overclock you'll be fine I think
It's over clocked to 3.4ghz.

I always say Jiggahertz and Jiggabits, I love the odd looks I occasionally get.
