(CNN) -- Anthony Wichman probably rather would have told the story of the one that got away. Instead, the 54-year-old Koloa, Hawaii, man won his one-hour battle with a 230-pound Ahi tuna -- but only after the fish nearly drowned him and left him clinging to his capsized boat. The Coast Guard said it rescued Wichman by zeroing in on his cell phone signal about 10 miles southwest of Port Allen, Kauai, Friday morning.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/22/us/hawaii-fisherman-rescue
Holy Mackerel.
a 200 lb tuna CAPSIZED his boat? hmm, something smells fishy about this
Damn, Ahi tuna can run nearly $30/lb. He almost got killed by a nearly $7,000 fish, then gave it to his friends who towed his boat out of gratitude. That's a man who is just grateful to be alive
a 200 lb tuna CAPSIZED his boat? hmm, something smells fishy about this
that fat guy, anthony wichman, and the tuna both went diving into the water over the side of the boat, probably around 600 lbs combined. let alone how easy it is to tip a boat
I can't help but be reminded of The Old Man and the Sea...
I can't help but be reminded of The Old Man and the Sea...
That story was just so impressive to read!

These tuna will be extinct in the next few years, we've over fished them into being unable to properly breed.
Finally the Tuna pounded a man
These tuna will be extinct in the next few years, we've over fished them into being unable to properly breed.
and now they are FIGHTING BACK
Well tuna can be the size of fucking sharks
These tuna will be extinct in the next few years, we've over fished them into being unable to properly breed.
anglers aren't the cause of over fishing. it's commercial vessels that go out trawling and take as much as they can possibly get but how fucking small was this guys boat if a 200lb fish was capable of capsizing it? if he was going after tuna, i can only assume he's an experienced angler. he shouldn't be goin after such large fish in a small boat

They used to get massive but we've killed off most if not all of the giant ones, and we kill off the large ones before they have enough time to become giant. You should be saying sharks can get to the size of bluefin tuna, not the other way around.
we're still running out of these delicious titans though.

I guess they needed a bigger boat
