A GT 240 might be better, I believe it performs better. A GT 440 is also an option.

The problem is that I don't have enough money for either of those, the palit 430 is £51.57 which is already slightly over my budget.

The 9800GT is the 8800gt but draws less power and as that one in the link is a green edition that will draw less than a normal 9800gt

Hey, we just get him the best he can get. It seems like he has no problem with the risk of his PSU killing his entire computer. My friend's 9800GT has been running on his 5-year-old HP 330W suicide bomber PSU for two years. Ok, his comuter is dead now, but I've cross-examined his PSU, and it tells me it didn't do it. It's probably his mobo, so maybe the PSU had a hand in this, but still.
