Found a vintage lens (I think)- need help identifying

So I was at a friend's house and he showed me a really old looking lens and I wanted to find out what it is and what type of mount it has.
On the front it says: Heinz Kilfitt Munchen, Tele-Kilar, 1:5.6, F=300mm, C, Nr. 2080125
Apologies for shitty pictures, I didn't have my camera on hand so I had to take pictures off my phone.

From what I can tell its a 300mm prime, but I don't know much about lenses just by looking at it.
I've also searched on google what it is, but all I see is mainly Chinese websites, more pictures on it and stuff.
From what I can see that looks like an old M42 mount prime. Seeing as it's f5.6 it probably isn't worth much.
Are there any mount converters or anything to fit it onto a Nikon body?
wow that was hard http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=m42+to+nikon&_sacat=See-All-Categories
It looks like one of those old "movie" lenses. I'd buy an adapter, they don't cost much and that thing might be amazing optically.

A topic on this lens, as seems this lens is quite old, to be used with leica rangefinders with the visoflex adapter.
If you want to use this on nikon you will need to look for a M39 to nikon adapter.
I believe there are some special visoflex to nikon adapters that will allow you to focus to infinity with it.
Cool, thanks a lot guys, I don't live in the US so I don't know of any places here that sell those converters. I will most definitely look around though :)

EBay.com can ship internationally.

Don't be investing in an adapter until you know what mount it is, it looks to be M42 or M39 as frag suggested but you can't be sure until you check properly.
This is the adapter i am talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/Leica-Leitz-Visoflex-M39-Lens-Nikon-Mount-Adapte-/370508473294?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564406a3ce
This adapter will make your M39 lens focus to infinity. It's quite expensive though, so i wouldn't make such a investment.
I am almost certain that this is a m39 lens, as my searches on this lens only give leica lens results, and that this lens was made in the 1950's. In the 1950's there were no m42 lenses, only m39.
Just my 2 cents.
This is why I love photography on Facepunch. You guys are just awesome.
In thanking you, have a French Bulldogs. (intentional grammar error)

I'm pretty sure M42 originates from the late 40's.
post a picture taken with the lens when you get it

You can fuckin' bet on it! :buddy:
yep
That's a lens
Well, fuck.
I think that your lens has been repainted, this is the closest thing that I could find.

so.. I got the lens, I just need to buy the adapter.
@frag4life, the lens already has the ability to focus to infinity and it has that adapter you suggested.

Whatever qualities that lens might have would be ruined as the light passes through that cheap adapter.
I don't know about that hey, it's a kilfitt adapter, and nothing really changes when I put or take it off.
Oh, I thought it had it's own optics inside the adapter.
Nope, just a hollow tube. Basically it just extends the distance so it can focus to infinity hehe.
looking at ebay listings, if it had an arri PL mount it'd be worth quite a lot, not so much if it's m42
Yeah, my friend gave it to me for close to £27
well, that's a good price for it. But yeah i'd say go with the m39 adapter
Cool stuff. Thanks guys :D Will let ya'll know if it works :)
You can fuckin' bet on it! :buddy:
so yeah
about that bet
Did this work? Picture?
Yeah I'm quite interested in any results, this was a pretty cool find Duckie
