Why can't owners of skyrim get a little discount? Just having 15% off would boost sales anyway
Skyrim: we want your money again edition
Why can't owners of skyrim get a little discount? Just having 15% off would boost sales anyway
Because owners of Skyrim and all its DLC received it for free?
Skyrim: we want your money again edition
Except you get it for free if you own Skyrim and all the expansions, at least on PC anyway
Because owners of Skyrim and all its DLC received it for free?
Well shit. I was just Dragonborn away from achieving that goal.
Because owners of Skyrim and all its DLC received it for free?
Well that sucks, even if I did buy the dlcs I would still pass on heartfire
I heard it runs like crap despite looking worse than the original game with mods.
Tbh the only DLC I got interested in for skyrim was Dragonborn, but by the time that released I was aready tired of the game.
I just don't understand why couldn't they make people who didn't own the DLC have acess to the new version with the content they bought before, aren't expansions in TES games based on .esp and .esm files that you could just toggle on or off on the launcher? Did they change that in the re-release or do they just want you to buy the new version regardless?
I heard it runs like crap despite looking worse than the original game with mods.
runs like fallout 4- which speaks alot on that topic
runs like fallout 4- which speaks alot on that topic
Runs way better than FO4 tbh.
I can't run FO4 at decent settings but I hardly get a framedrop from SSE at Ultra
I heard it runs like crap despite looking worse than the original game with mods.
If you have TXAA it's blurry, but it does technically look better outdoors. Indoors it's pretty much the same with color correction that makes it less dulled in palette.
Honestly, I don't think all the new effects by themselves can justify a re-release, because it's literally Skyrim but a little prettier and a larger chug on performance if your'e not careful. My computer auto-set the settings to Ultra and for seemingly no reason just looking in the wrong direction out on the field noticeably drops my FPS from 60 (though not a significant enough amount to inhibit gameplay). And i'm rocking 8 GB of RAM, a GTX1070, and an i7-6700 3.40GHz quad core.
They also didn't take even 5 minutes to add in-game settings that could help with player accessibility or field of view or anything. It's Skyrim as you know it but with an in-game mod menu / Bethesda's own little 'workshop', and a custom ENB that apparently plucked things straight from a fan ENB. I am loading things faster arguably, but I haven't played normal Skyrim on this computer to compare.

That's not why they did it, it's for PS4, Xbone and maybe Switch releases so people don't have to dig out their shitty old consoles and as a bonus they can provide mods to consoles this time around with BethesdaNet
I mean they could've just not ported it to PC, but then people'd get pissed at them for that instead.
Definitely runs better than the original skyrim for me. No more goddamn stuttering when moving at a high rate of speed.
I just wish SkyUI would somehow get ported over

yeah except it's $40+ for a 5 year old game
you don't have to lie to yourself. They didn't even add some new exclusive content, it's just technical changes and graphical.

I guess I phrased it poorly. I mostly meant that if you're going to buy this, with mods aside, you either are getting it for PS4/XBO, or you don't have the game already on PC (and your rig can handle it). If you have Skyrim and all the DLC already, you're getting it for free, but if you were be late to the call and missed the offer, currently you're not really missing much. At best it's an uncertain promise that the 64-bit upgrade and whatever mods come out in the future can ultimately have a more stable experience.
And considering it's Bethesda, "stable" is very much a mythical word.
Oddly, I didn't get the free version and I had the original Skyrim already.
Oddly, I didn't get the free version and I had the original Skyrim already.
Did you have all 3 DLCs too?

Maybe look at the prices of the original game before basing your claim on its pricing.

And that's on Steam with the bundle. Seperately, it's $45 for the DLC and $20 for the base game. On the PS3, it's $45 for the DLC and you have to buy the game used at Gamestop or some shit because they don't sell it on PSN. On the 360, guess what, it's $45 for the DLC and $30 for the base game.
Why would they drop the price of the remaster when they haven't even dropped the price of the original?
[editline]a[/editline]
This is literally just for new consoles and pushing BethNet.

They REMOVED legendary edition from Steam and are pushing the bundle so you couldn't essentially get a discount when the new version came out.

Speaking of pricing for DLC pack vs outright

To be fair, people were reaching the limits of what they could do with only 32bit so it should help modding quite a bit.
Why can't owners of skyrim get a little discount? Just having 15% off would boost sales anyway
Is "free" a good enough discount for you?
Is "free" a good enough discount for you?
Free if you actually own the dlc so what is really free? You already paid for the game :v: Then making people who just own the game pay the full £30? not even abit of a discount for those who actually bought the base game?

It's too late now anyway, so you won't actually receive the special edition if you buy the original.
Also note that that's a 'Your Price' price, which is a little cheaper than the normal one for that bundle, which would include the base game for ~$5 more if you didn't have it.
[editline]28th October 2016[/editline]
In Germany, the original with all DLC is 36,56€ if you don't have any of it, while the Special Edition is 39,99€.
In the US the prices are (almost) equal it seems, with the original pack at $39.63 and the new edition at $39.99.

There was: I got it for ~10€ because I had all DLC except Dragonborn.
The trick was to use the 'Complete Your Collection' bundle which is discounted proportionally and totalled at a bit less than the new edition even if you didn't have anything (in which case it was the same as preordering with a 12% rebate ([editline]edit[/editline] here. It seems the bundle was priced higher in the US, relatively speaking.) with the original thrown in as bonus. This may or may not be a good idea depending on what one expects). I thought it was quite fair since they announced the conditions for getting the new one for free-ish well in advance.

It was an about 12% discount if you had the base game in the US and got it before release, by the looks of it.
I can't check for the UK unfortunately, but in the Euro zone the discount was higher than in the US afaict.

actually about 13, not that it matters much

or 20, I can't math
To be fair, people were reaching the limits of what they could do with only 32bit so it should help modding quite a bit.
Not really. Most of the current year's technical modding was bypassing the 32 bit limit entirely which was quite successful, and making landmass quests that didn't explode everything with badly designed scripts.
The new architecture isn't really going to be a boon to anyone except novice scripters, who can now bombard papyrus even harder now that it's more robust.

It was more than fair; considering they announced it so far in advance AND ran a 75% sale in addition.
No I was right the first time, It's not math, it's my eyes
something tells me I shouldn't be posting at 5am
Kinda peeved that there seemed to be very little time before release for news of the 'elgibility requirements' to spread, and no way to 'upgrade' your existing game...I only found out about this right after it was too late, so rather than paying £8 for the 1 expansion I didn't have, I need to pay 3.5x more if I want it.
They really should have included this information in the original announcement so it spread alongside it rather than an announcement that a lot of news sites didnt pick up until within 1-2 days of it coming out.
Guess I'll be sticking to modded Skyrim and waiting for this to be heavily discounted in like a year...
*EDIT*
Nevermind, apparently some sites did actually say way back when that you'd need to have all of the DLC to get it for free. Still though, I'm not sure if they actually expect people who were only missing 1-2 DLC to pay full whack for the game again.
