• Windows Explorer doesn't work anymore

This is very annoying. Let me explain my dilemma. Windows Explorer doesn't work anymore. The taskbar does, of course, but the explorer itself doesn't. I cannot open any folders or search something or open the control panel or my documents or whatever. Clicking on a folder or trying to open My Documents doesn't work anymore. All that seems to barely work is the control panel, and even then, all that comes up is this. I cannot, for the life of me, understand what could be causing this. I have not downloaded anything that could possibly compromise it. I have recently downloaded DeskScape (which is basically animated wallpapers), a Windows 7 theme that gives me a blue progress bar (and that, among others, was a replacement of W7's default aero theme, which I backed up), and, what I think might just be the culprit, Win7BootUpdater. I'm running an antivirus scan right now using avast, but I fear if this goes on I might just have to reinstall Windows. I literally cannot browse my files, so I have no idea how to fix this. I can't even upload or save anything. THIS IS ALL VERY DISCONCERTING.
Never heard of this problem before, so all the advice I can give is: 1. Try system restore, restore to a time when it worked 2. If that doesn't work, google the various types of command line repair you can do on windows 3. If all else fails, do a full repair of windows using your original windows disk, but if you google around you might fight the answer is already there, so it shouldn't come to that. Good luck!
Looks like Win7Bootupdater is pretty shitty. I was kind of a retard to download in the first place. I accidently fucked up my boot screen. Dunno how that could relate to explorer - I'll have to check it out tomorrow. EDIT: also where do i find system restore without messing about with explorer
chkdsk /R sometimes it will do something usefull
