• New comp, Huge price

I recently got a new gaming computer for graduating. This is awesome but when discussing it with my dad he did not trust me building my own, even after intense arguing he went out and bought a new computer from one of the most overpriced companies on the market. Guess what, I get to pay half for my new computer (so I bought myself a grad gift that was overpriced!?) Well as the story The computer came to a total $1,200. It was $1,400 thankfully I had a decent discount. Ok, so I need your advice, and your rating of my new computer. specs: i7 920 2.67 (water cooled) 1.8gb?(thats what is says on the info sheet)260gtx (single) 6gb of ddr3 1333mhz 500gb hd Thoughts on this, is there a way to actually get my money out of this? Should I upgrade the card or just keep it how it is? Was it worth it for me only paying $600 How far can I overclock the processor, should I replace anything?
For $600 dollars that's a pretty good deal.
I don't get what you're asking.
For $600 dollars that's a pretty good deal.
For you yes, but in total no. That's not even that great pretty much standard. Your dad is fucking dumb.
I don't get what you're asking.
How far can I push the processor, should I replace anything?
How far can I push the processor, should I replace anything?
Push sounds like you're saying overclock. And tell us what you do with your new computer.
I think he does want to overclock... for some reason. [editline]03:31PM[/editline] Mind, why would you OC an i7... OP please clarify
Push sounds like you're saying overclock. And tell us what you do with your new computer.
Yeah exactly, sorry long day I mostly play single player games, generally because have the amazing hughesnet internet (satellite). Live 3/4 of a mile from cable and dsl is not available either but games like, Empire Total war, GTA IV, Mass Effect 1-2, stuff like that
I'd say that pc could cover gta4 on max.... Mine plays it on mid high and mine's pretty average compared to yours.

Alienware?
Alienware?
It sounds like Alienware.
Sounds like the PC I'm about to start building in a week or so. i7 processor but with more RAM, and more HDD space and SLi Over clocking depends on the Motherboard. Most you can do it in the bios and some still use the old jumper settings and most OEM boards have it locked out or the jumper pins removed.
and most OEM boards have it locked out or the jumper pins removed.
Even high-end brands like Alienware?
Even Low-end brands like Alienware?
Fix'd
Yeah okay we get it, building is better than Alienware, but isn't an Alienware better than a $350 Compaq Presario SR5130NX?
Looking nice...

On-topic: Where did you buy this from, thats a good price you have there. [editline]10:05PM[/editline] Wait, this sounds exactly like an alienware.
I wouldn't replace anything, you might want to think about grabbing another HDD soon depending on how much space you typically use, but otherwise that PC is good. Overpriced, but good.

Even though the same computer could be bought for much less, if you put it together yourself. $Only 600 payment for me though
Off topic: Why the hell do you have to pay for half of your grad gift?
