Also, I read a couple of places that you can unlock the processor to have an extra 2 cores, making it a quad-core processor and can be overclocked to 4.0Ghz with a Gigabyte mobo. Is this true, and if so, how? Thanks FP!

secondary approval.
can you really unlock the processor
For Unlocking Cores. Similar to this. You need a Motherboard with a South Bridge that is a SB750. (The motherboard you have in your list has a South Bridge that is a SB710.) I think only the SB750 has that option to unlock the cores. It's possible to unlock all the cores. Some, Phenom II X2 and X3 CPUs were perfectly fine and AMD just disabled the cores to make a X2 and X3. You gotta gamble if the CPU's were defective and were down 2 cores or the CPU is perfectly fine and AMD just disabled the 2 cores on purpose. All in all. You might have a unstable quad core if you unlock the cores or a perfect usable quad core. And if your gonna overclock, I recommend you get a aftermarket cooler. Like T.R.U.E or Xigmatek Dark Knight S-1284 or The Cooler Master V8.
for that motherboard you need ddr3 ram
thats kind of cool

Don't even get that brand of PSU (in the op).

I could live with that, I just need the option to unlock em'. Thanks a lot dude.
you can unlock the cores of x2's? what are they trying to do, they've already perfected dual cores... Lazy Bastards, Anyway Even without a quad It's pretty good.
Apevia power supply will blow up in your face. Don't get a 1GB 4830; just get a 512MB 4850. A single stick of RAM is slower than 2 1GB sticks, so look for a dual channel kit. This PSU should be good: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171031 Go for this RAM: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178154 4850 512MB: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824

I have one in my machine and it works great. I also paid $80 for it. :)
