• 3D, Who else is fucking sick of it?

Obviously 3D has been around for a long time now, but the sudden influx of movies doing it has grown very tiring for me. It seems Avatar started it all after all the praise it received. Here are some upcoming titles for 2010: Sanctum Moomins and the Comet Chase Alice in Wonderland Hubble 3D How to Train Your Dragon Clash of the Titans Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D Shrek Forever After Toy Story 3 The Last Airbender Despicable Me Cats & Dogs: the Revenge of Kitty Galore Step Up 3D (totally necessary) Piranha 3-D Legend of the Guardians Alpha and Omega Jackass 3D (Seriously? Saw VII (7 movies in and NOW they decide to do it.) MegaMind Tangled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Tron Legacy Yogi Bear Beyond: XXX: the Return of Xander Cage A Monster in Paris Beauty and the Beast The Cabin in the Woods Resident Evil: Afterlife Drive Angry Priest Sucker Punch! Rio Kung Fu Panda: the Kaboom of Doom The Green Lantern Cars 2 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Smurfs 3D Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World Puss in Boots Arthur Christmas Happy Feet 2 in 3D Brave The Invention of Hugo Cabret Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn Godzilla Stretch Armstrong Newt Hotel Transylvania The Croods Madagascar 3 Untitled Spider-man Reboot The Guardians Now of course these are only the movies announced for 3D, there will undoubtedly be many, many more. I haven't seen a movie in 3D since spy kids 3D when I was a kid. Now that I have glasses there is no way for me to watch a movie like this comfortably. I get a headache anyway. When this was introduced in the 1950's there were many movies out in 3D, but it gradually died down and there were only a couple 3D movies every year. I mostly just want to see what other people's opinions are about this. I hope this current fad fails like it has in the past. Edit: After reading some post I realized that I sounded pretty negative about 3D in general. I'm not saying 3D completely sucks, just all companies using it as a gimmick right now. I wouldn't mind some movies like Avatar and such. It's just that it seems like 3D has become nothing but an attempt to try and squeeze more money out of the film. I personally don't enjoy 3D in itself, but I don't think it sucks, just the companies raping it.
toy story 3 will be awesome man screw you
You don't HAVE to watch 3D films. It's up to you, you know.
I just saw in the news that people will make commercials in 3D... add it to the OP.
The last time I saw a movie with actually good 3D effects was Spy Kids 3D. It's just sad at this point. And now we have fucking 3D TVs.
I'm only sick of the shit post-production last minute 3D that companies do to try and make more money off the film (like clash of the titans). But avatar-style 3D, when they actually film the movie for 3D, where you can focus your eyes on different stuff on screen, is awesome and I'll never get tired of it. I really look forward to seeing it in Tron and the Alien Prequels.
Spy Kids 3D was anaglyph 3D, the new films (and commercials) use Polarization, which gives MUCH better results.
You don't HAVE to watch 3D films. Plus the 3D tickets cost more than a regular ticket
I'm literally sick of it, 3D gives me a massive headache.
3D Sucks.
I hate 3D, and until I don't have to wear those absolutely retarded glasses, I will continue to hate it. I mean there are some things that I wouldn't mind watching in 3D like The Mist or maybe even some of the new Gamera movies, but some of these are so fucking unnecessary. Like SAW in 3D, that's just stupid.

3D Is great! I love the polarizer 3d instead of the annoying red/cyan glasses. [editline]01:04PM[/editline] I don't see why anyone could hate it, it isn't even an inconvenience to watch something in 3D.
annoying red/cyan glasses.
Anaglyph. Oops, broke your automerge, sorry.
And you can still watch them in 3D. If it gives you a headache, thats your problem.
Only good 3D film I have seen was My Bloody Valentine 3D, was not brilliant but was very entertaining and nice use of 3D.
It's the fucking future, deal with it.
The only problem with 3D is that most films use it as a gimmick, not a feature.
I just saw in the news that people will make commercials in 3D... add it to the OP.
I hope between 2D-stuff, nobody will set their glasses on just for ads.
3D sucks balls 4D all the way!
3D is great when it is done well, it makes the movie more immersive.
i never noticed the difference in 3d movies other than a blur over the background and a shadow on the focused object, also, an annoying feeling in my eyes yes that includes avatar
I'm not sick of it, mostly because it's getting better. Avatar was the first movie I've seen that didn't use its 3D for gimmicky shit and it actually helped the immersion.
I watched Avatar in 3D, didn't make the story any better.
I watched Avatar in 3D, didn't make the story any better.
It isn't supposed to, it is meant to make for a better experience.
Spy Kids 3D was anaglyph 3D, the new films (and commercials) use Polarization, which gives MUCH better results.
most 3D films for the last 10 years use polarization, polarization's old as tits, ever been to Disneyland, Honey I Shrunk The Audience? that was put in in 1994
I still remember anaglyph red/blue 3D. It sucked dick.
They seem to use "3D" as a byword for "no plot, but cool effects when you wear the special glasses".
"3D" is a gimmick that will die in a few years. I have always hated it. every version of it. including avatar, and I hope to never see it in anything I watch. it subtracts more from the film than it adds to it. if anything, the next "leap" will be holographic, but I think everything is fine as-is.
most 3D films for the last 10 years use polarization, polarization's old as tits, ever been to Disneyland, Honey I Shrunk The Audience? that was put in in 1994
The point is that there is no point comparing anaglyph 3D (spy kids 3D) to polarization 3D.
