So im not really the best at the purchasing part of computers and getting the most bang for your buck but this is what ive done so far.
So far i built one for 720$.
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
GIGABYTE GA-H67MA-UD2H LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W
Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500
Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
HIS H577FK1GD Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity
So pretty much my only guide lines where stay under 800$

Mine comes in kit form.
It's probably good enought for her.
You can't play 2 computers with one hand each
don't get a seagate .11, get a samsung spinpoint F3
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
going AM3 with a 955 would allow you to get a much better graphics card, overall better performance
I think something like this would work well no?
It's even within your budget!

The samsun spinpoint f3 seems to be more reliable then the seagate yes, the only hindrance is that its smaller, I KNOW 1.5 TB is insane but she thinks shell fill it up, she had no problems filling up 500MB with crap in no time.
Ill look into the different CPU, but what your saying is i should go AM3 cuz its better? or cuz its cheaper and i can then spend more on the graphics card?

I apologize but I believe you have made a bit of a spelling error. Shouldn't 'computer' have instead been spelled 'kitchen'?

XD i guess, thanks

Anyway, you could always get two F3's in RAID 0.
Also she's paying for at least part of it, right? (kinda reminds me of the thread over in the GD)

LOL not even, she wants to pay for it all, she dosen`t want me paying anything, so im trying to make it relatively cheaper for her.

You don't have to be tech savvy in any way. A 10-year old could build a computer. You just have to remember that you shouldn't have to apply any pressure. That sometimes doesn't apply to the GPU, though, but before you use force, look for other possibilities, something's blocking it, etc.

Id agree but id also disagree with you, you probably know your way around a computer, see my GF explained it to me and like it may seem really simple, trust me i think it is. but when she looks at it shes all confused and can`t remember the first thing i told her. What am trying to say is everyone has there strengths and weaknesses.

If you have someone who can do it for you there is less drive to want to learn how.
Any reason why you're sticking with the i5 though? I mean, you're going with an ati gfx card might as well go am3 right?

no, it has no performance impact at all

Possibly his girlfriend using his account?
Or the other way around.
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
She probably would enjoy that, sadly her computer is definitely not a gaming computer. I am in the process of making her a good computer from spare parts from my old ones, which won't be that hard being I repair, make and sell computers and parts. But that will take a little while because I don't want to give her all old parts, I'm going to buy her new parts but she won't get that for a while. Also if you're wondering how bad her computer is maybe this will help: her computer could barely run Half Life.
-Edit-
Also I enjoy your avatar even though I don't like their new album

RAM as well.

Yeah, that too.. SATA power connectors (That's what they're called right?) can be a bitch, too. And so can the 20+4 pin connector.

I understand, but just dig up an old computer, and let her fuck around with it. Best way of learning.
