One of the 16 new members of a UK university regulator appears to not want to accommodate disabled

Firstly, I really apologise if this title is deemed to editorialise, but the title on the article doesn't do it justice, and we have a new university regulator to ensure consistent freedom of speech practices, which is a lie because there is no freedom of speech here. I mean, it is not encoded in law. Even though I am happy about Britain First and a Neo Nazi group being fucked over, I would rather know who the arseholes are and I would prefer that we had it put in an actual constitution too. this is all just political fuckery.
Here is the most important aspect:
In a 2012 Spectator column, Mr Young hit out at the "inclusivity" agenda in schools, suggesting it meant "wheelchair ramps, the complete works of Alice Walker in the school library (though no Mark Twain) and a Special Educational Needs Department that can cope with everything from Dyslexia to Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy."
Toby Young has said he regrets "politically incorrect" remarks he made in the past but has rejected claims of misogyny and homophobia.
The right wing journalist has faced a backlash on social media after it was announced he had been appointed to the board of a new university regulator.
Critics attacked his credentials and experience for the role.
And have unearthed social media comments about women and an old article about "being a lesbian for the night".
In a passionate defence of his suitability to join the board of the Office for Students, Mr Young said he was a longstanding supporter of women's and LGBT rights and meritocracy in education, rejecting suggestions he had called grammar schools pupils "stains" in a book about class in 1988.
'Tory cheerleader'
The Office for Students has been established to hold universities to account on issues like vice chancellors' pay and free speech on campus, with powers to fine universities which fail to meet the required standards.
A lecturers' union complained that Mr Young - who helped to found the West London Free School -has no relevant experience and that he had only been chosen because he is a "Tory cheerleader" and passionate supporter of the party's education policies.
Mr Young is one of 15 board members who were selected following an open appointment process.
Others on the board include lawyer Simon Levine, Boots executive Elizabeth Fagan and barrister and academic Carl Lygo.
Labour MP David Lammy has said Mr Young should not be on the list because he is an "avowed and proudly sexist misogynist".
Urging Mr Young to withdraw, he said he had a history of making "unacceptable" remarks about disabled students and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I now genuinely fear that America's Overton window is fucking us over here. This is beyond the pale.
Every year, our educational system unjustly forces innocent fuckwits like Toby Young to struggle with things they have no possible understanding of, like what their job actually is, how basically any disability works, or when to keep their ignorant fucking mouths shut. Without our help, these misunderstood people will end up out of a job, alone, unloved, and with only a cushion of failed Orwell Prize nominations to dull the pain.
Please, #VoteTory next election. We can make a difference.
is he implying that wheelchair ramps, of all things, are bad? how do they do anything but benefit the disabled??

Aside from the usual Tory disdain for the disabled? The guy is as bit of an edgy cunt from what ive read.
Apparently upon being appointed he had to go back through his twitter and delete fucking tonnes of offensive tweets- including a fair number that were basically just responding to celebrities, politicians, and members of the public with stuff like "I'm wanking to your tits" or "I want to bum you senseless".
I dunno, maybe this guy ought to be run down by a car so he has an idea of what is to live with a disability and just how fucking difficult it is to get about even with things like ramps and handles. This government remains beyond a fucking joke and I stand by my previous remarks that we would be better off without them, one way or the other.
So 1/16 is a Milo light? Could be worse, every "bipartisan" regulatory body here is 1/2 stocked with people who want to burn their agency down thanks to the fucked up system that basically gives the minority party a purely symbolic vote anymore
I know these often don't work, but they do work politically, and we need to do something. 180,000 signs currently gotten.
