So I'm set! Now I just need to find a girlfriend..
I befriended someone who grew up in a conservative household and never played video games. Now she is playing Kentucky Route Zero. The best way to get someone in PC games, or any video game, is to start out with the truly unique and artistic stuff out there. Like Journey or something.
I just showed her Skyrim and Oblivion and she liked it. She's not a ~hardcore gamer or anything but I guess it's nice to have Azuras star being freaking awesome as a common topic to talk about.
Leisure suit Larry always does the trick
Why rate this box? lovely article.
I like to imagine how a pc gamer boyfriend would act. "Did you really just rent a copy of Blops 2!? That's fucking it. I'm fucking sick of your casual shit! You're the cancer of the gaming industry!" "You think I should get Dragon Age 2!? Do you think I'm some sort of filthy biodrone!? You should know the Witcher 2 is better!"
how is this news
I honestly don't think I would give a shit if my significant other played games or not.

My girlfriend plays games sometimes but she's not very good at them and she gets tired of them really quickly. I bought her plants vs zombies and she loved it until the rooftop level, in which she then got stuck and never touched it again. I know some other female friends who say that they like watching people play games, but not actually play it themselves. I think most girls do enjoy video games. It's just that they're a bit intimidated by them because they don't feel they'd be good at it (especially when you have guys constantly bragging about how good they are at games around them)
The best way to get someone in PC games, or any video game, is to start out with the truly unique and artistic stuff out there. Like Journey or something.
Not necessarily. If you're going to get someone into gaming, you should try to find games that mesh well with their tastes/interests. It makes an easier transition for them and they're automatically more invested in something that they have an existing interest in. Say that you have a friend who's really into action-adventure movies like Indiana Jones; Journey might not capture their interest, but a game like Uncharted is almost a no-brainer. And you can apply this to just about anything. Someone likes 80s sci-fi? Show them Mass Effect. Fantasy? Bring on the Dragon Age or Witcher. Comedy/Puzzles? Hello, Portal 2. Games like Journey are magnificent, beautiful experiences but they likely won't have any impact on someone who is completely uninterested in it and I sincerely doubt it'll get them into gaming on artistic merit alone.
my girlfriend likes playing some wii/wii u games with me, but she's a sore loser and punches me when i win so i play by myself
I knew a guy who never played a game in his life and then I got him into company of heroes.
