Just wanted to know if it was safe to run my computer without the side panel. I just wanna take off the side panel and put a fan next to it because the case gets REAL hot after while. :frown:
course, just don't stick yer hand in there or something metallic
or a magnet.
Or water. [editline]10:22AM[/editline] Or pets.
No. All computers are rigged with 5 pounds of C4 and rigged to blow whenever someone opens it.

Yes, just be careful.
Don't do it... ITS A TARP! Naw- but if it gets hot, put a rubber case on and see what happens :D

it's perfectly fine to do so, just observe common sense when handling computer bits.
yes, just don't let your cat pee in it goddammit
Just buy some $4 fans at Best Buy, and install them. It's much more safer than running it with the side panel open, which could risk it breaking with, liquids, too much dust (overheat), metal, magnets, ect.

Don't just "stuff" fans into your case, as thats probably going to screw airflow and cause overheating. Dust collects slower when the case is open, due to a large negative airflow on the side of the case.
Yes, just make sure you don't accidentally drop a quarter off your desk and it, in a 1:1,000,000,000 chance, lands on your gpu solder points and ends up frying your entire system, like I did.
I've always wondered if this was such a good idea for prolonged use. Having the side panel off would allow dust to collect inside your system faster, wouldn't it?
I have been using my computer with the side panel off for a solid 10 weeks now, and it runs fine. Just make sure to dust it out every once in a while.
I remember someone posted a picture of their room, they didn't even have a case, just a motherboard tray...I laughed, then realized that is a very bad idea. I run mine with the side off time to time, avoid kickin. Shit as much as possible, heatsinks get hot.
Yea your fine, I run a computer caseless.
I've had the side panel off of the family PC for pretty much 4 years now and it's been fine.

Yea.

If it's hot, put fans in it. Fans should pull in air in the front, and blow it out the back. Side fans should also be blowing air out.
You'll have a higher chance of it being dusty, but it will probably stay a bit cooler depending on the room tempurature.
What I'm doing now is just taking off the side panel and turning the fan on when it gets hot then putting it on after cooling down for 15-20 minutes.

And it feels good man, while the fan cools off my computer, it also cools my legs.
