• I'm going to the Gym tomorrow, and need some tips.

Right, I hate making threads, I usually try to find stuff elsewhere, but this time I need something more specific to me. I started doing fitness classes about 3-4 weeks ago, 'cause I felt like I was getting way too lazy, and felt like shit most of the time. After paying for like, £5/class, 2 classes a week, I realised there was a badass 'Summer Deal' I could go for, because I'm a student. So I'm paying £30, and I get ALL the classes I want to attend, and gym access until September the 6th (when college starts again). Of course, I plan on paying for membership after this. I'm not going to stop in September and think I'm built like a champ. But anyway, I need some tips, basically. I'm a complete beginner, despite getting 4 A*s in my PE course at GCSE's. I need to know what's good, what I need to do, and how much I need to do. The gym looks like it has all the equipment I'll need, I mean, I've only had a quick browse, but I'll see what I can do tomorrow. I'm 6'1 and weigh ~150lbs (yeah, I'm pretty fucking skinny) and I'm looking at working on every muscle ever invented. Ok, so what I need is some tips on what I need to use, how much I should be doing/how frequently, and how to do it properly. I know that I won't be 'muscleman9000' in one day, but like I said, I'll be keeping at it as much as possible. TL;DR I'm a complete beginner and no basically nothing & need some tips on what to do to do the gym properly.
Do a routine like Starting Strength or Stronglifts 5x5 (GOOGLE THEM) Eat 500 calories above your maintenance (Google a maintenance calculator!) to gain weight. And most importantly, TRAIN YOUR FUCKING LEGS. No, don't come telling me your legs are ~strong~ from endurance shit like jogging and cycling. Your legs will end up as absolutely weak, tiny toothpicks if you neglect them and seeing as both aforementioned routines require you to squat there's no avoiding it.
Alright, I'll Google that now. Thanks for that, I'm sure it'll get me started off. And right, that sounds reasonable, I see what you mean. Fuck it, I'll beat the shit out of my entire body instead, hell, I might as well make the most of my money and come out looking like a tank. [editline]29th July 2011[/editline] Ok, so I have this. One thing though. I have an extremely high metabolism. I can literally eat and eat and never manage to put on weight. I managed to eat this, and gain nothing but a bad stomach after. (This is why I shouldn't be given free things): Does this affect anything?
Yeah eating a bunch of shite isn't the best thing to do. I'm assuming you already calculated your maintenance calories (+ 500) like I previously told you to, just go to this website: http://www.swole.me/ Enter your calories and how many meals you want and you're good to go.
So I'd be going for ~3000 calories a day, yeah?
So I'd be going for ~3000 calories a day, yeah?
yes
It's nice to see I'm still a master at Maths. Thanks.
So I'd be going for ~3000 calories a day, yeah?
Preferably not in McDonalds.
Until I'm given another bunch of free coupons for there, it's not going to happen again. Don't worry.
Don't disappoint, son.
Obviously dont eat fast foods like mcdonalds and shit that comes off a processing line, shop around your produce section of your local supermarket for better solutions.
Alright, sounds good to me. I'll bring some cash with me before going into town then. Off to the gym in a couple hours. Should be good fun. :v:
no worries mate, i dont know about everyone else but i dont drink energy drinks like red bull and mother, also powerade and gatorade because all they do is make you more thirsty
