Just a question I'm curious about, If your phone is taken up because it gone off in class, what is your punishment? Do you think it's unreasonable/needs work? At our school it's a 1hr detention, and a $15 recovery fee
Kind of lame they charge you money on top of the detention.
What about your school?
If my phone goes off. 1st time. - Gets sent to the office, parents need to pick it up. 2nd time. - Sent to office for like a week/month. Parents need to pick it up. 3rd time. - Sent to local board of education. Parents pick it up at the end of the year.
No recovery fee or detention, but the phone is confiscated for a couple months. Altho that's only if your using your phone, and if it goes off in class theres only one teacher i know of that takes it.

Yup, no recovery fee, just long ass wait times. I was supposed to get mine taken away until the end of the year, but they didn't write it down officially. So I'm back to the first offense.
If my phone goes off without sound? I excuse myself and walk outside to answer it, the teacher has never dissalowed me when that happens. Goes off with sound? Everyone stares and chuckles at you and the embarrasment alone is enough to remind you not to do it again.
If a phone is seen or taken: 1st time: Get it taken, retrieve it after class with no hassle 2nd: Confiscated and must retrieve after school 3+: 15$ fee
1st time: phone gets taken away for a week 2nd time: phone gets taken away for two weeks (I think) I think it just keeps on progressing as it keeps going on; however, this is if you're even seen with your phone, mind you, not just of it goes off in class.
Recovery fee? Are you fucking kidding me OP?
fees and holding for time are ridiculous and illegal I'd imagine
Our school makes a parent pick it up after school if you're caught using it, but most teachers don't give a shit, they just say "You can use the phone when I'm done talking."
You're not really supposed to have it on your person at all during school hours, but everyone does. Even if it goes off, 95% of teachers won't take it up unless you're texting constantly or something. If it does get taken up, you just have to pick it up at the office later. If it gets taken up 3 times you need a parent/guardian to get it.
Let's face it, thanks to "that kid that used to always abuse it" we now have to suffer the consequences.
1st - taken with warning with warning until end of the day. 2nd- parents get it with a detention 3rd- can't remember but it's probably ridiculous. Our bitch of an ELA teacher took mine for playing the impossible game in lunch.
When I went to school it depended on the teacher... Some would be complete D-bags and would give detention and sent phone to office to be recovered by parent, and some would be totally cool with it and just let you either silence, mute or even answer it (depends on if the teacher was giving a lecture).
Back in secondary school if you got caught even in possession of a phone it would be confiscated and a parent would have to call/ write a letter to the school saying you could have it back. Now I'm in sixth form so it's nothing like that. I was walking down the corridor talking on the phone and the teachers I walked past couldn't give a shit.
There aren't any rules against it in my school. Except in controlled assessments AKA important shit, even then you just get it back at the end of the period
At my school, they let us use our phones unless they're distracting other people. :smug:
No rules about phones at my school either. Though we have the golden rules beside our blackboard that states "If your phone starts to ring while in class - please go outside and finish the call as quickly as possible". I like my school.
Most of my teachers don't care as long as you're not talking on it in class.
1st time- sent to office, parents pick it up after school 2nd time- sent to office, parents pick it up after school and have to pay $15 3rd time- ^^ 4th time- ^^ and so on.
The years before last year, there were very few rules barring electronic usage, (open use of phones/ipods in class when not being lectured (You eat in class)) My freshman year, they cracked down on it all, I don't know the rules for phones since I don't own one.
My school - Usually the teachers tell you to put it away and don't take it away sometimes they don't care, or sometimes if you keep it out after the teacher asking multiple times then they will keep it until the end of class then you will get it back.
First time: They take it until end of class (usually) Second time: To the office until end of day and then you can claim it. Third time: To the office until parents get it.
That sucks. They usually just used to take the phone and make our parents come and pick it up from the front office. Some of my teachers were nice and just gave it back at the end of class. I even had one teacher, who was hot, and just let us have it on our desks and out. Sometimes she'd do the right thing and say "Hey, Justin" and look at me. I knew what it meant and put the phone away.
My teachers just say "Put your phone away."
The fuck is this $15 recovery fee bullshit. I have to pay $25 if I ever get caught with mine.
My school has fair rules and all, but only one teacher let's you get away with it ringing in class. 1st offense: Warning and PARENT must pick it up right after school. 2nd offense: ^ + detention. 3rd offense: ^ + detention. 4rd offense: ^ + detention + expulsion for one semester.
