THE Malaysian MotoGP was halted four minutes after the race began today when Honda rider Marco Simoncelli fell and was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.
The 24-year-old Simoncelli had his helmet knocked off in the accident, which occurred when the Italian lowsided from his bike at Turn 11.
His bike veered across the track and straight into the path of Edwards and Rossi. The race was immediately red-flagged.
Simoncelli, who was motionless on the track after the impact, had been fourth at the end of lap one.
Edwards also fell but escaped serious injury, while Rossi, on a Ducati, was able to return to the pits.
Simoncelli's condition was not immediately known.
Terrible news, I feel for his family.. R.I.P
RIP Marco. After Dan Wheldon, I feared there would be another death in motorsport soon. For some reason, these things always happen in twos. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

He's dead, just watched it at least that's what MotoGP said
Word is he has passed away, devastating week for motor racing.
Well all my friends are saying he died because of it, I have no hope he survived such a crash like that but he may of. It hasn't been confirmed by any reliable source.
Well this just isn't a good year for people who have a joy in using machines. Race car crashes, plane show crashes, train crashes, now this.
Wikipedia lists him as dead
At least the both of them died doing what they loved. I suppose that, in the end, that's the most you could really ask for.

wikipedia = rumor.
I saw the crash, it was seriously brutal
it looked like the other bike ran right into him while he was sliding on the ground

I could've sworn they've broadcasted that he's conscious

I figured if his helmet was rolling around his head was probably still in it. Aren't they kind of designed to stay on your head after all?

The impact was so enormous that nothing can be guaranteed.

Here's another video of the collision as those above seem to be removed.
It was a massive one and it would have been a miracle if Simoncelli actually had survived it. R.I.P. Marco, MotoGP fans will never forget you!
Why was he so far down on his bike? Had he fallen unconscious or something?
When I saw the footage and his body just moving helplessly, I was stunned :/ That was horrible. How can anyone rate this funny?
R.I.P Marco Simoncelli.
It was a really horrible crash. There must have been a lot of force behind it to take his helmet off.
RIP
He had no chance whatsoever on those hits, the second I saw it happening I knew he was dead. I just hope it went quickly and he was knocked out instantly so he never felt anything.
RIP
Why the hell are people rating the OP funny?
So somebody is actively going round claiming copyright on the video.
Why the hell are people rating the OP funny?
So people like you can ask that.
Heres another video.

They cancelled the race entirely... RIP
So what exactly killed him?
So what exactly killed him?
Edward's Bike hitting his exposed head I think.
Most likely head injuries, I feel really sorry for Edwards right now...
