I just bought Another 5850 with the aim of crossfiring it, and I had the sudden panicey thought "oh shit can my PSU handle this?"
I have a Corsair 550W VX Series PSU - 120mm Fan, 5 Year Warranty that's currently powering:

8gb ram

(mobo) AMD Phenom II X4 955

Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB Hard Drive

and a 5850.
Will it cope, and if not, what's the cheapest possible one I can have that will? (Preferably cheapest reliable)
Thanks.
This should help:

You're pushing it a bit, but since your PSU is a corsair you should be fine
You should be fine, but you should be aiming for half load, so if your system requires 300W you should aim for 600W, but that is mainly when getting a new system.
It should, but yes you are pushing it.
You are seriously pushing it. And I mean you have two amps to spare. Don't even try to overclock anything.
I think this card comes pre-OCed actually.

Don't buy it then.
Stay on the safe side and upgrade PSU. If you don't have enough money, just wait 'till you have some.
... I already bought it (specifically that card I linked), and it's in transit. It's ETA is monday.
I only thought of the power this morning. <_<
Get a new PSU before Crossfiring. I'm sure can you wait a bit.
Probably. What PSU do you recommend? I have about £70 at the moment, but will be getting another £100 in about 10 days ish.
Obviously I'd rather not spend all of it.
If you only want to spend £70, then get this:

If you can manage a bit more, I'd aim for something like this:

or this, if you feel like going high end

your one word reply does not invalidate the fact that all of those are good PSUs

i'm glad you agree
Which one is the better one, 650W XFX or 650W Corsair? :v:
Just curious.

xfx
Why is it better, what's the difference really?
more connectors, higher efficiency
You do love that PSU don't you reapaninja. No complaints though it's worked fine for me.
So any objections to the XFX, or should I go for it?
Go for it
Ordered. Should arrive Monday too.
Looks like I'll be enjoying the wonders of low-budget living for the next week.
Now that's what I call service. They both arrived at the same time at 8:25am. I was expecting to have to wait in all day for 2 separate packages.
