Right now, as it stands, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! won't come out on Xbox 360 or Xbox One.
Why? Because Microsoft has stuck with its policy of forcing developers to partner with a publisher in order to bring games to their platform.
New 'n' Tasty! will launch on PlayStation 3, PS Vita, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC, Mac and Linux.
In an interview with Eurogamer at E3, Oddworld Inhabitants boss Lorne Lanning - who helped launch the first Xbox back in 2001 with exclusive Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee - criticised Microsoft's policy making.
Lanning said he has tried to talk with Microsoft about getting New 'n' Tasty! on Xbox without success. The company spent 15 months trying to get Stranger's Wrath HD onto Xbox Live Arcade before they were turned down, and it sounds like they're having more trouble with the new game.
This is good, the less food on the ship, the less people interested in the cruise.
Microsoft, do you want anyone to buy your new console?
So right now after ingesting a cyanide pill, Microsoft is in the process of shooting himself while being hung from a noose.

To an extent, yes. I will have to give you that.
[sp]The problem is, I still want an Xbone, but only for the games.[/sp]

While using Microsoft customer support
Not only are they actively telling people who don't have a good internet connection not to buy their console, but they're actively telling eager developers to fuck off and develop for Sony instead. The ineptitude beggars belief.
haha wow
And just the other day the developers said they'll be releasing it on the Wii U after Nintendo approached them about publishing Stranger's Wrath HD and Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on the eShop.

The thing is, if you ignore the massive consumer backlash, everything Microsoft has been doing probably makes investors and publishers completely disconnected from reality roll on the floor giggling in delight.
To be fair this has been Microsoft policy for a very long time.
But it still doesn't make me want to consider an Xbox One, especially if the re-make of one of my most favourite games of all time isn't allowed to be released on it.

Ah, the third ring of hell.
Maybe all the news sites are switching the names and this is actually Sony that's fucking up and Microsoft is actually being amazing
Good job I own a PS3 then.
I've been waiting for this game for a long time, and if I happened to own an Xbox upon reading this I would probably be rather upset.
Microsoft thinks people chose the 360 over PS3 not because of price and PS3 not getting enough games, but that somehow customers prefered their brand :v:
This is almost like a GTA ad because of how bad this is going to be
This is good, the less alcohol on the ship, the less people interested in the cruise.
ftfy
but yeah agreed. the less reason for anyone to get xbone the better.
Big deal, as long as it's coming out on PC I'll be happy.
Just throwing out a hypothetical, and I really hope I don't derail the thread with this, but does Valve count as a publisher? Would they be able to publish Left for Dead 2: Episode 1 following these statements?

EA publishes Valve games on consoles
This is astonishing, and I still hear people saying "Everything Microsoft is doing is just merely being blown out proportion, it's all okay."
Just about all the diehard xbox fanboys at my school are considering purchasing a PS4 than an xbone because they are the guys who like to get preowned games to save a couple of bucks
"now available for anything that isn't the xbox"
The day ZachPL doesn't rate a negative rating on an article bashing on the Xbox One is the day I buy a Xbox One.

I can't tell if he's rating it dumb because the situation is dumb or if he's rating it dumb because it's a post against the xbox one.

"... then pull the hammer back and pull the trigger. ^PS"
Yes, Microsoft has always screwed indie devs around or ignored them, this is unfortunately nothing new (As evidenced by the article being about the 360 and One, it's not like they've changed their policies)
EA publishes Valve games on consoles
Well formerly published for consoles. I doubt the spirit of cooperation exists between the two anymore.
I hope that this whole xbox fiasco takes Microsoft out of gaming for good. Their policies are what you'd expect to read about in some terrible dystopian future.
