Marquel Peters was seated with his parents when the bullet, fired outside as part of New Year celebrations, came through the roof and struck him on the head.
So much for going to church.
:whoptc:
I bet he was jewish.
where's your god now.
It was an act of god! Burn the heathens at the stake!
Holy shit.
2 miles? Thats head-shatteringly far
I guess service ended early for him.
The parents must have been like :psyboom: when they saw their kid like that.
Oh wait.
Reminds me of the MW2 video where he throws the knife and it hits a guy that was behind a building right before the match ends V:v:V
Churches give me a headache

Ballistic experts believe the ammunition came from an AK-47 assault rifle fired more than two miles away from where the child was attending a service at the Church of God of Prophecy in Atlanta, Georgia.
Police said it was common for people to fire guns into the air as part of the New Year celebrations even though it is illegal.

Don't fire your guns in the air people, for incidents like this may happen.
That's just epic
And I wonder why this never happened with the starting pistol at the start of races. Hmm...
Edit:
God dammit, I suck at sarcasm. :(
That's horrible. I hope the person who fired the gun comes forward. He should be charged with involuntary manslaughter, and whatever the charge is for firing the gun like that.
I saw something like that on 1000 ways to die. It was on New Years, and as soon as it hit the new year, they fired a bullet into the air and it happened to hit somebody. Poor kid.
Kind of a longshot the chances of this happening are.
also, ITT: Dickheads trying to be cool and funny.
Any bullet fired from two miles away isn't going to hold the energy needed to come through a roof and still bust through human skull. Terminal velocity of the bullet doesn't give it enough energy.
that's having bad luck.
How high can a bullet travel before it turns around?

Because starting pistols fire blanks?
I'm surprised nobody mentioned that this is DAILY MAIL.
It's so hard. He was my only child
Yes, because if you had more than one child it would make it so much better?

It's sort of hard to see that happening since lots of people fire guns into the air in new years eve, and it was two miles away. Unless they get those guys from CSI. Man those guys can solve any crime.

That doesn't matter as much, as it would almost certainly reach terminal velocity long before hitting the ground.

lol nice one dad

Bullets can maintain their ballistic trajectory over vast distances in gigantic arcs, so the bullet was not falling at terminal velocity, but instead was falling in a wide arc.
