So my friend is building a great computer with 5grand he got off nintendo. He has just about everything exept he hasnt decided on a graphics card.
Also I can't wait till its done. 16Gigs of fucking RAM with an i7. Oh yeah, dont be an ass, we both know what we are doing. Not that facepunch is always an ass. But you can be.
If you want more specifics on the mobo for the choice then I can ask him.
You see its 8 days till this is available as the top-of-the-range-and-supportsDX11-if-a-bit-pricey card:
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/14581005/Zotac-nVidia-GeForce-GTX-480-1536MB-GDDR5-PCI-Express-2-0-Graphics-Card/Product.html?&_$ja=tsid:11518|cc:|prd:14581005|cat:Components
almost £100 for 2 cards. Otherwise if he says its too much I am going to suggest either 2x GTX280 or GTX295
Thanks for all the help.
Do you really need 16gb of ram?
Even an i7?
What is it going to be used for?
If you got no budget, get 480.
That's if you're producing something that will also use 16 gigs of ram
Its going to be used to play Gameboy emulators and Minecraft.

Nothing is too much if you get 16 GB RAM.
Lol, thanks. Also we do know that we need 64bit. He annoys me. I have 2gigs and a 8600GT. Thats sub-par to most prebuilt gaming laptops.
He really is wasting money, even if he won it he should of got a standard high-end build and saved the rest of the cash for upgrades or "boring" stuff like savings or university.
He should buy 3x 27" Dell monitors and used the rest on a eyefinity setup
He should do whatever he's doing right now, and spend the rest on two 5970s with three 30" Dell monitors.

YEAH!!!
But really, he doesn't need it, and when it will be needed, he could do it alot cheaper.. This is a bad idear, and 16GB is just waaayyy too much, no game demands that, get 8 if you really want too, and then upgrade later.
Chances are hes gonna get triple channel RAM, so 6 or 12 gigs.
He said he didn't want a monitor. I will send him this thread, try to get him to speak personally.
Doesn't want a monitor? That's something that will last for a long time and he won't need to upgrade for years more if he gets a 30". They've been out since what, 2001-2002? Nothing has changed.
[editline]05:12PM[/editline]
I mean for fucks sake he has $5,000. He could build a rig that would totally obliterate everything else out there for $2,500-$3,000 and spend the rest on peripherals.

Or save the money for upgrades.
Anyways, if you're getting an i7, get 6GB of RAM and Crossfire 5870s. That will dominate everything on the market right now.
5 grand off nintendo?
How?

maybe he had a wii :v:
When do the 5990s come out?
He should look into getting one of thoses.
If he doesn't feel like waiting. Get the GTX 480.

It's a joke thread obviously. How could you take this seriously?
This is a troll.
I7 Supports Tripple channel memory.
16 gb is therefore a weird number since it can't be divided by 3.
12GB would make way more sence and probably be faster.

Not to big of a gap between dual-channel and triple.

There will be.
The difference bitween Single and Dual core was also small at first.
Same goes for Single and Dual channel memory.
