Hey guys, not sure if I should have asked in the FAQ or Mega-thread for Win7 but, is there anything I should know when I upgrade from XP to 7?
Any specific instructions, or anything. I have no real clue how to do anything here.
1.) don't look back.
If you have ac97 integrated sound, it's a bitch to install the driver. At least it was for me
Moving from XP to 7 requires a fresh install.

How does one do a fresh install :downs:
smash your harddrive
then format it and install win7

Pop in the win7 dvd, restart and then follow the stuff, it's obvious
And if you don't have, set dvd drive as first boot device in bios, but mine was like that by default

Pretty simple. Buy a copy of windows 7, put it in the CD drive, restart the computer and it's piss easy from there.
But when formatting the drive, ALWAYS do a quick NTFS format.

I have once tried doing a standard NTFS format. It is not nice. Follow this guy's advice!

I once tried doing a standard NTFS format on some dude's high end i7 computer.
Took three and a half hours to scan all sectors. And after it was done, Windows wouldn't even boot properly.
The dude was pissed.
Quick format or you're pretty much screwed.
