I downloaded stubbs the zombie demo on steam today but when I played it the game ran in a window, but everything around it was black. So I proceed to the game options to change the screen resolution. So I went to restart the game i found the game had somehow changed my actual computer screen resolution to run in a small window as the game did. I changed it back and started up the game to have it be in the same windowed mode it was before. So in frustration I uninstalled the game. But now all my steam games are running in the windowed mode as stubbs did. Im sure its a simple answer but I dont know how the hell to change it back.

If its that obvious please inform me
rightclick on an affected game and click properties->startup options Then type -fullscreen in it and press ok, run the game and tell us results.
[QUOTE=Naelstrom;31220403]rightclick on an affected game and click properties->startup options Then type -fullscreen in it and press ok, run the game and tell us results.[/QUOTE] Tried it already, doesn't work. It only sets the resolution to the highest the game options will allow it to be set.
Try -windowed -noborder then.
Tried and didnt work also :suicide:
check for processes and services in task managers which can be disallowing games from going fullscreen. Otherwise it sounds like somthing may be wrong with the windows installation. You can insert your windows 7 cd and open it within windows, and when it comes up press "upgrade". This should keep all your files and programs, but it will replace all your windows files (which i suspect to be broken).
Well I really do not believe windows to be the problem considering it only affects steam games and it only began after I downloaded that demo. Its as though some setting in steam itself is changed. I have sent email to steam tech support but its been two days and no reply
Ah i see, disregard my post then. [editline]i don't trust automerge aaaa[/editline] Try turning off steam cloud, it's probably interfering, then you can try to reinstall steam, just reinstall then move over your .gcf's.
I was hoping it wouldnt come to that due to it being such a pain but I guess Im going to have to. I have been waiting 4 days for steams tech support to email me back. Its pretty aggravating.
Try this in launch options: -fullscreen -w NORMALW -h NORMALH Obviously replace normalw/normalh with your normal screen res.
Tried above post and it didn't work. I reinstalled steam and it does the same fucking thing. Is there something concerning my actual computer that may be the cause? [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Like some setting that may be causing my games to run at a different res
None that are immediately obvious. You can try and reinstall directX and video drivers.
